I think this is possible via the membergroup bit of the control panel.
I'm sure I set one of my groups to yellow (however temporary)
members > membergroups > then click on the colour box and choose your colour!

Ranks don't have colors. However I can add it to the list of potential future update ideas.

oh yes that changed the members name's colour for that rank not the rank. My bad.
