On V4.5, a member can only have 1 account per email address on a Proboards forum. In V5, a global ID is basically the same as an email address, and a user can have multiple forum accounts for the same forum with a single Global ID. You could allow only one forum account per forum per global ID. This would make the global ID system less confusing. Or you could leave it up to individual forum owners to choose if they want their members to me limited to 1 forum account per global ID.

Not sure why this would be less confusing, there also wouldn't be any advantage, people who want multiple accounts could easily have multuple globals on several browsers for a forum that restricts accounts
Global accounts mean you login once to global, and can easily switch, that to me is far less confusing

A typical login system is very easy to use, all you have is 2 boxes (username and password), a "submit" button, and usually a "forget password" button. The V5 login system is much more complicated, it is made up of multiple pages, most of witch have least 5 buttons and links per page. I have been using the beta a long time, and I am just now starting to figure out what all the links and buttons do.

Thanks for the suggestion. We'll discuss it and potentially make this a 5.x feature.

I think the Global Login is a great idea and very simple to use.
Restricting it to one account per e mail address would be a backward move. I have my main Admin account and my day to day Admin user account in my name + an ordinary user account for testing purposes. These are all linked to one e mail address and I wouldn't like to have to change that. I've tested how this works in my V5 beta and it's fine.

It is limited to 1 in V4.5, and it worked out great. So why change it?

Obviously they are in different user names

I don't believe there's anything in the TOS about being allowed only one account on a forum. I have my admin account and one I use to test settings as a regular user. As a general rule, I only allow one account per user, but that's MY rule. Not PB's.
Also, role play sites frequently have single users with multiple ID - one for each character.

Multiple accounts from one global login is a nice feature for admins, even if as a rp site we choose not to go with the account for each char, it's great to be able to switch between the main admin account (which I inherited) and my usual account without logging out and in or opening a different browser.
Maybe a way for admins to tell which accounts are linked to the same global account? (Would be useful for rp sites to - but then we'd like that info visible to all members and are currently going with a custom profile field)
Sent from phone, please forgive typos!
