will there be a plugin for the profiles in v5 where you can customize it like 4.5, say like if you wanted to use ross's Build Your Own Mini-Profile [Cross Browser] code ?
if so please can someone make one, as i love that code

If all you're looking to do is change the mini-profile around, that can be achieved using nothing but the Mini-Profile Layout Templates - no plugins required. =]

I'll give it a go. Could be a few days. Is this alright?

I'll give it a go. Could be a few days. Is this alright? A plugin probably should not be used for this since the templating system was implemented exactly for this reason. However, if you made a plugin that made it a lot easier to customize the mini-profile than it is to use the templating system, that would be great.

If you need help with coding the mini-profile feel free to ask. Just draw what you would like in Photoshop/Paint/Gimp for us to see.
I'd also like to point out that I believe the mini-profile templating page is currently broken, so if you make changes nothing will happen. This should be fixed soon.

The more plugins that are added the slower the forum is going to run, and if a plugin is not necessary it shouldn't be used. There's no reason to discourage people from making plugins, though. The average user does not have coding skills and we shouldn't have to send them to edit HTML templates. If I were a novice user I'd much prefer to use a plugin.

I'm pretty sure the code they were referring to still requires them to write the HTML, it just turned all the mini-profile parts into variables exactly like the templating system. But if a plugin were made to do things more visually that would be great.

ok now i am lost maybe this wasn't a good idea i still do want it but i dont want the forum to be slowed down now, and as for patrick's comment (tnks) my coding knowledge doesnt go past html & css.
Oh well if anyone wants to do this plugin they can, i'll still give it a try...

Jordan, as Patrick said, some are not good at HTML, CSS, JS, and jQuery. And, I might even fail at this, but at least I'm going to try.

I'll choose better words next time. I was just trying to point out that Smudges requested Ross' " Build Your Own Mini-Profile [Cross Browser]" code which does exactly what the templating system does (the user still has write HTML themselves, but they have variables just like in the template code so there's really no difference). However, since you just included HTML and CSS in your above statement I'm assuming that you are going to do a more visual plugin which would be great.

You didn't discourage me at all. I do plan to make it very visual. I have the user interface done. Working on coding right now. Could be a bit, though, as it's Thanksgiving week.
