This also works on the replies of threads as well when you're in a board. You can click to see the participants of the thread.

Sorry I had no idea. What you said does almost exactly what I had put. Great minds think alike. Thanks for the info though.

Not too happy - yes clicking on the replies is good but like so much here, more work..
On V4 I could tell at a glance who I had sent PM's to but more importantly I could also see who had opened a mail but not replied..

Clicking on the number of replies *does* work, but I guess I don't see the use of or need for the "Created By" column - at least from the user end. Obviously if it's in my PM outbox, the PM was created by me. It would be much more useful if that column reflected "Sent To" instead, like it did in V4. That would also mean a lot less clicking, since people wouldn't have to keep clicking on the # of replies on each PM one by one until they found the right one with the particular participant they were looking for.

On V4 I could tell at a glance who I had sent PM's to but more importantly I could also see who had opened a mail but not replied.. Agreed. When I send out time-sensitive PM's to my members, for me it's just as important to see who *hadn't* opened their PM's yet, too.

I thought I missed the old way, too. But I can see who I sent a PM to by clicking on the PM. It's called Participants and it takes up the first line at the top.
In v4.5 if I sent one PM to 10 people, it showed up as 10 sent messages, so it took up more space in my Outbox list.
So this is actually less space intensive on the surface.
Still, it might be nice to have one more column that lists maybe the first 5 recipients. It would probably be too big a box if ALL recipients had to be listed when all recipients are ALL members of a particular forum. Our forum hasn't had to send PMs to all members at once, but I can see how that would/could be a problem.

Is there anyway to see if our latest message has been read or not as we have in v4.5 or is that one of the many privacy issues?
Ooops, I see that was mentioned in a reply # (reply numbers I don't see anymore either) in this thread.

Ooops, I see that was mentioned in a reply # (reply numbers I don't see anymore either) in this thread. I possibly need new glasses Greg but where does it mention privacy issues in a thread - been through the thread and can't seem to see it... Opening a PM can't be a privacy issue - surely...?? It would be more than embarrassing if someone has to be told off (example) and you couldn't see if they had opened the PM and you PM'd again....we admins would possibly get a right mouthful!! RF EDIT: Yes I noticed no thread numbers - that will also complicate things if you are trying to point someone in the right direction. Some of the people on our forum still don't know how to do links after years..

As I already said on page one, we do feel that it's not clear at a glance and we will be having a meeting to discuss this further.
We are going to improve your ability to see who the recipients are at a glance. Right now we are discussing replacing the Created By column with a Recipient column. For multiple recipients it would say something like Tim Camara and 3 Others
Clicking would be similar to click the replies number now. This would help you identify conversations at a glance easier and tell them apart easier as well. Though remember that the subject can also help you deduce what is what.

Rosefriend I only mentioned the privacy because so many early on in the beta testing were wondering why they as admins could no longer see members email address and I P's among other things. I was just wondering if they also considered the ability to see if a message we sent had been read or not. I do like to know if it has been read. It helps me consider a follow up message if I have not received a timely reply if a reply was necessary. I do like the message format as conversations. it helps very much keeping up with all that has been previously discussed in the topic of the original message.

Many thanks Ryan - a Recipient column sound good...also to see if someone has opened a PM. RF

Yes I do like the conversation format as well - makes it so much easier keeping up to date when people don't quote... RF

RF Click the gear icon of posts you want to quote, select post, then hit reply Also works if you select the first post etc, but hit the quote on the last post you want to quote without selecting
