People have a lot of feedback for v5 and this is good! Some of that feedback includes suggestions on things to improve. As many of you are aware, we have had Alpha and Beta copies of support for you to test for many months, along with that, we have had the discussion and suggestions boards for working with the larger components of v5. This suggestions board is of course still up for use by the way With that said, there have been a couple of things that despite testing v5 every day, was not really noticed as people were not actively posting on the beta boards. Some things can only really be noticed when you are using the software in a "real" situation rather than a test one. These things though, are very minor and quickly changed. A couple of examples: A member suggested that the inner border color was too light making it hard to see the difference between quotes and posts. We were feeling the same thing, so we changed it! Previously threads with posts made "today" had their times in bold to make it easy to differentiate between older threads and newer ones. We miss this so will be bringing back some kind of bolding for times pretty soon. With those examples mind, please feel free to make any similar observations. Unfortunately we will not be able to try every suggestion, and some we will have to outright say no to as a result of it being more than a quick task, or it being something that doesnt fit in with the base v5 product and would be better suited in a plugin. As a hopefully obvious footnote, please keep things civil

? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?I have no idea what you are talking about. What is this utf-8 of which you speak? And I see what you mean about the member online. I don't think that one is out of the question. Ill take a look at where in the system it is generated and how quick it would be to change without affecting other components Edit: Turns out the test I used made use of UTF8 characters that only work if you have the additional fonts for them. Terrible example. I have modified them to use ones that should be on more machines. The short answer is that yes, v5 is fully complaint with UTF-8 standards ?

Can you add the orange (or another colour?) back to the image/text in the posting page, when you have "bbcode" or "visual" selected?

Im not sure which part you are specifically talking about. I just checked out the "default" colors (rather than the colors this forum has from converting its 4.5 counterpart) and there is no orange on the posting page.

The Participated button is a bit weird since after you check it it still says you have new posts. Sometimes you don't want to check all the threads in there. Shouldn't there either be a "mark as read" button or should the "new" graphic go away after you check it like on boards?

I really don't like logging in with my e-mail address. I know the point is to save time by having one universal login but why not have both options to login as your username or e-mail?

I don't know if this was covered before or if it's anything possible, so forgive me if so. But the alt preview of the first post when you mouse over a thread. It's really nifty, but sometimes it blocks the page selection, and it won't go away until I hover over another cell. Kind of a tiny bother, but is there a way to make the preview show up somewhere less likely to get in the way? Hope that makes sense.

It's the same exact way in v4.

We added this a couple of days ago. Username logins will work for a given forum. You can disable this feature to restrict logins to email only at the following link: www.proboards.com/account/settings

'Doh. Oh well, thanks anyway. \o/ Yeah, as Patrick said, its browser functionality. Down the line, we might consider overriding the functionality and making our own tooltip functionality. Given the fact that browsers already implement a near perfect option for this however, it wouldn't be something that is made soon. With that said, a plugin could be written which does this. The short post content is available in the template engine and could be used for this purpose.
