I don't see the problem tbh and as Rita says as it was an option in V4 for years why not for V5? There are many things that I dislike but it doesn't mean these are wrong..

I also can't see it as a privacy problem - why join a forum if you are going to be invisible - just stinks of a troublemaker...it did cause trouble on our forum and I'd rather not have that mess again.

In my eyes it is a privacy issue, if one wishes to hide themselves they have the right to do so.

Well that made me laugh Justin...

I asked for a Code Justin, nothing more - a code that has been around a long time and most of these Privacy changes are not even law at the moment. I can only say that I would never allow someone to remain Invisible on my forum...it causes trouble on a small board.

I don't believe there's a way to remove this option, and even if there were I would recommend against it for privacy reasons already mentioned in this thread.

As an admin, you have the ability to see invisible members anyways, so this shouldn't affect you.

Can I make a suggestion which would/should/could/might please all....

If the information centre at the bottom of a forum only showed who was invisible to staff and not members everyone would be happy. Members don't need to know how many invisible members there are online either.

Fantastic suggestion Rita and a good compromise.

 My aversion to someone being invisible is the fact that the members hate it, feel spied on and think that if people want to be on the board they should show themselves..it stops the board as it is talked about all the time.. If they don't actually see that someone is invisible, then it isn't going to bother them and as people have to be visible to post there is no problem.

Admins/staff can see and that is enough..

There you go, no need to worry about it now, as it doesn't show how many are invisible, it will just show for staff that you are.
