I'm a bit of a stickler for having to click more times than necessary. So, I don't like having to click from Visual to BBCode to Visual (two clicks) to be able to get an accurate live preview, showing me all the @ username links I typed. I also didn't like that my smilies weren't parsing. So, I created a solution. 1) If you click the "Quick Preview" button, it will refresh the Visual Editor textarea with an accurate live preview. 2) If you click the "Visual" tab, it will do the same. I did attempt to make it automatically update when a user paused typing, but it would not retain the current cursor position right now. This is probably fixable once I delve more into the code behind the WYSIWYG. This preview shows the Quick Preview button. This plugin requires the yootil plugin to be installed before this: get it herePreviewDownload

It doesn't work for me, it disables WYSIWYG, smilies disappear, etc. I've downloaded and re-installed a few times but still the same. I know it's this plug-in causing the problem as I can switch the error on and off by enabling and disabling the plug-in.

(The PB source code may have also changed since I originally implemented this.)

Sorry for late reply Chris. I use Google Chrome. Hope you fix it as I think it could be a very handy plug-in.

Can you give me a link to your betazone forum please? PM it if you don't want it public. (Or create another one once the betazone convertor comes back online.)

It doesn't work for me either Chris. I would love to apply this to my site. Just as Graham stated, when I enable the plugin I lose my WYSIWYG items along with a couple other plugins that I added (Spoiler tag and Smilies dropdown). I have tried in Windows 7/IE9 and Firefox 17.01. With the Preview Plugin Without the Preview Plugin

Some improvement but not quite there. I loaded and installed the yootil.pixeldepth.net/yootil.library.pbp plug-in. After moving it to the top of my list of plugins and enabling the Quick Preview plug in, the Quick Preview button does show and all of my WYSIWYG items are available and functional. However, the QP button does not seem to do anything.

In regards to QP not doing anything... did you manually type anything that isn't already converted? For example, did you type a smilie manually? The button shouldn't do anything other than refresh the visual editor IF something was typed manually. So, If I typed [b ]test[/ b] manually, it should be switched to test when I click "quick preview."

I will give that a try. I had loaded the yootil on a "What the heck" whim. Figured I had nothing to lose. Thanks for the help.
ETA...the QP does work for manually input items now.
Thanks again.

Because that's all it does... visual itself is already a preview, this just updates for manually inputted items and show you EXACTLY what it looks like. (Some times the visual preview is wrong until updated.)

JW: Would it be possible to have it update any time you clicked outside the textarea?

Hi Chris just noticed something with this that might be useful to know. When you click Reply to a post, it also generates an additional Quick Preview button below the Shoutbox (even if it's hidden using the collapsible Shoutbox plugin) Clicking it has no effect on Shouts, but it does update any text in the main Reply area. How weird is that!
