If you're trying to change the color for everyone in a member group, just go Admin > Members > Member Groups > click on the color which pops up the color picker. There is no plugin needed to do this. And if you want to change the color just on one particular theme, you go to the Themes > Theme Manager > Groups and Ranks, then do the same thing (click on the color, change it). But that only works for changing the colour. I've often seen people add coloured bottom-borders instead (which makes sense as it'd be difficult to have lots of colours on one theme and still keep the actual text readable). Some people might want to use ::before/::after to add a little symbol as well. Was there a reason for why the class was removed in the first place? It'd make plugins easier to a degree (I know the current user's member group is going to be added) if you could find which links/users are in what member group.

Hi Shrike,
We can add this for the user's display group. We won't be able to do it for all groups they are in, though (in case they are in multiple).
I'll add a task in our list to get this added.
