the @ system only works in posts (and maybe shoutbox, never tried it there). that is something the PB software does on its own. no plugin would have the ability to access the memberlist storage in order to convert it.

Has there been an update/fix for this yet? I'm still getting the message "There are still some AJAX processes pending. If you leave the page now, you may lose any changes you have made. Are you sure you want to leave this page?" when I try to save my personal settings in my profile after adding a relationship status in Chrome. Thanks!
And, if the @ system doesn't work, and can't be made to work, with this plugin... will manual links to profiles work with this? Thanks!

that field gets stored as a text field, so if you put in a manual link, it will display as what you typed.
what browser reports an AJAX error? do you have 1.1.7?

I'm using an up-do-date version of Chrome & yes, I have version 1.1.7 of the plugin installed. I noticed I also get the AJAX error when trying to save the Personal tab of the profile, even if I'm not adding/changing the relationship status, when the plugin is enabled. And, when I get that error, sometimes it states that the settings have been saved & sometimes it doesn't, but either way it still doesn't show up in the profile or miniprofile.
Is there any way you can change the plugin so that it will accept manual hyperlinks? I would really like to be able to link to other user profiles somehow, whether it's manual or searchable or whatever.
Thanks!!

I can make it where it will let you put in a hyperlink, but it has no way of checking if its a good link, and DEFINITELY wont be searchable like the user-serach boxes that PB has. I dont even know if we are allowed to use those since they also generate AJAX calls. maybe.
do you have firefox by chance to see if its JUST chrome doing it for you?
edit: actually.. now I broke it in firefox trying to get it to work in chrome...

That would be great if you could make it so that you can put a hyperlink (linked texted, not just a url). I don't mind it not checking to see if the link is good. VS Admin/ Brian, if someone knew how, would it be allowed to add the user-search boxes to a plugin? I just installed Firefox to check to see if it worked for me there... it didn't. I got the error: " This page is asking you to confirm that you want to leave - data you have entered may not be saved." & it the profile page still gave me the message that it was saved, but it didn't show up in the profile/mini profile. Edit: Oh, I just saw your edit on your last post that that you broke it in Firefox...

no I broke the version I am running that isnt posted. that confirm message pops up if you ONLY change the status and dont make a change to any other field. Im not sure why it does it, but I changed something else to see if I could make it stop. its not doing it in FF anymore for me, so THAT is at least fixed. I also got hyperlinks to work, but if they arent exact, as in they arent url.toyour.forum specifically then they become relative links back to the forum. so if you put in: <a href="www.google.com">Joey</a> to that field it would put "Joey" as a hyperlink, but point to "http://yourforum.proboards.com/www.google.com so Im trying to think of a way to maybe just use the "@" character to designate a username that the plugin converts to a link to a profile. the problem is it cant deduce a display name from just a username (that I know of). There are some variables I havent explored to see what they contain yet.

Hey Wormopolis, have you been able to figure out a fix for the error messages? What about how it won't save & show up in the profile/mini profile? And are you able to get the text boxes working to allow links to a person's profile? Thanks!

the version currently being worked on doesnt have any errors in any browser. but I havent come up with a good way to store a link other then typing the full link HTML out. which is a potential security violation ...

Cool, so it doesn't have errors and it does save & show up in the profile/miniprofile? I don't mind typing the whole html link out if I need to, or at least for now until a better way is figured out...

yeah but the problem with that is ANY HTML can be typed in that box.. which means someone could type in a script there as well and the plugin would run it. therefore: security violation.
Im still trying to find out if the @ system can be accessed

@ system cannot be accessed.
its going to boil down to them putting something like
@username(displayname)
into the box and it converts it that way. but if the other user changes their display name, it wont know anything about it.
