Can you link to the forum in question, adminabp? It's incredibly confusing trying to determine which sidebar is showing up where without seeing it directly. It's invisible except to members. I'd have to approve you, not that there is anything left to see. During the night I scrapped using the left sidebar entirely anyway and took out all the code. Everything had looked fine on my desktop computer, but then I took a look at the custom page with a tablet and it was way too much. With both sidebars and the widgets I had 4 columns, it was so crowed two of the plugins I was trying to use the sidebar as containers for, "Of the Month" and Wormo's affiliate plugin, the reasons I was using the left sidebar there in the first place, were actually having their contents either pushed out of the sidebar or getting chopped off when viewed on the tablet. I'm trying to make my site as viewable as possible on mobile device browsers so members can take advantage of all the plugin features without having to resort to using the mobile app. I decided just three columns was enough, and since I could add content with the widgets I couldn't with the sidebar, and I could also use the widgets as containers as well as the sidebar, I ended up using the widgets. Once I realized I could change their size on the HTML tab I was leaning toward doing that anyway, but then I got so caught up in the how of trying to make the sidebar work to do what I wanted that I was ignoring that the widgets were actually a better, and simpler, alternative for what I was actually trying to achieve. I get like that sometimes, get so caught up in solving a problem I over-complicate something. Sorry about that.

I can see any forum's content regardless of membership restrictions, so don't worry about that part. So basically you are a god! I put the code in on my test forum, it has far less customization(I have 70 plugins alone on my main forum ) so it should be easier to see everything. Regular page, with just the right sidebar: abptestforum.boards.net/Custom page with both left and right with two widgets in between: abptestforum.boards.net/page/homeFinal code I ended up using for it: Global Header: <style type="text/css"> /* This hides the left sidebar */ .sidebarr-left-td { display: none; } /* This removes the spacing from the center */ .sidebarr-center-td { padding: 0px !important; } /* This adds the spacing from the center to the right */ .sidebarr-center-td { padding-right: 10px !important; } </style> HTML tab on custom page: <style type="text/css"> /* This shows the left sidebar */ .sidebarr-left-td { display: table-cell; } /* This adds the spacing from the center to the left */ .sidebarr-center-td { padding-left: 10px !important; } .sidebarr-left-td { padding-top: 15px !important; } .sidebarr-right-td { padding-top: 15px !important; } </style>
I added padding to the top of both sidebars on the custom page to even them up with the widgets.

The spacing looks correct on both pages, adminabp. Is there an issue there that I should be seeing?

The spacing looks correct on both pages, adminabp. Is there an issue there that I should be seeing? No, it's perfect. I just decided that four columns was too much and decided to just use the two columns of widgets and only one sidebar. It looks good on a big computer screen but I felt it was too crowded on a smaller mobile device. The finished code was fine, though. Thanks again for your help.

This has probably been mentioned or asked about before, but since it'd be so difficult to go through all the responses made here, I gotta ask:
Is there any way to make these sidebars visible only on certain pages - for example, only on the home/index page of the forum? It makes my theme look PERFECT on the home page, but if anyone wants to use pretty tables in their posts, most of them are too wide to fit with the sidebars being there (and I made the sidebars as narrow as I could without inhibiting the legibility of the cbox, located within them).
If possible I would love to see it happen! :)

If possible I would love to see it happen! Yes, I think that's easy enough to do with a bit of code in the global and main headers. I should be able to translate what I just learned with a custom page to this. Turned out the hard part with that was getting rid of the padding only where I needed to get rid of it. Go to: Admin Home>Structure>Headers & Footers> To make both sidebars appear only on the main boards list, paste this into your Global Header: <style type="text/css"> /* This hides the left sidebar */ .sidebarr-left-td { display: none; } /* This hides the right sidebar */ .sidebarr-right-td { display: none; } /* This removes the spacing from the center */ .sidebarr-center-td { padding: 0px !important; } </style> then paste this into your Main Header: <style type="text/css"> /* This shows the left sidebar */ .sidebarr-left-td { display: table-cell; } /* This shows the right sidebar */ .sidebarr-right-td { display: table-cell; } /* This adds the spacing from the center */ .sidebarr-center-td { padding: 10px !important; </style> If your forum's spacing is different than 10px, change the number in blue in the part below to match what your fourm's spacing is. /* This adds the spacing from the center */ .sidebarr-center-td { padding: 10px !important That should do it.

THIS WORKS PERFECTLY--except for one tiny problem, it appears that it makes my shop and bank functions go wonky, and I have nooo idea how to fix it! You can see what's happening here: cimarron.boards.net <-- normal main page, looks fine cimarron.boards.net/thread/9/canons <-- no more sidebars, enabling tables to fit nicely cimarron.boards.net/?monetaryshop <-- a weird sidebars-trying-to-be-there glitch where it's supposed to look like thisPlease help adminabp - if you can, awesome! Otherwise I'll have to abandon this awesome plugin :(

Any way to make one of the containers viewable only to members? You can make them invisible, but they'll still be visible in the page's source if a guest right-clicks the page and selects View Source. support.proboards.com/post/5672020

Otherwise I'll have to abandon this awesome plugin I had to join your site to see what was happening with the Monetary system pages. I see you're only using the left sidebar, so lets try a more targeted approach for that and see if that can clean it up. Replace what I previously gave you with the following: Go to: Admin Home>Structure>Headers & Footers> paste this into your Global Header: <style type="text/css"> /* This hides the left sidebar */ .sidebarr-left-td { display: none; } /* This removes the spacing from the center to the left */ .sidebarr-center-td { padding-left: 0px !important; } </style> then paste this into your Main Header: <style type="text/css"> /* This shows the left sidebar */ .sidebarr-left-td { display: table-cell; } /* This adds the spacing from the center to the left */ .sidebarr-center-td { padding-left: 10px !important; } </style> Left me know if that fixes it.

As a matter of fact it doesn't I thoroughly expected the code to instantly fix the problem, but it appears that nothing's changed, or at least it continues to weird out the shop page. It's not just an issue with your shop page, it's happening with your bank page, too. It seems for some reason the Monetary Plugins are tying to display their pages inside the area the hidden sidebar would occupy. It's not a problem I was able to replicate on my test forum. abptestforum.boards.net/To test it, I put that exact code into my own headers and footers and the sidebar displayed fine along with the Monetary System pages. It could be an issue with the theme you are using, some bit of code missing or moved around. That happens a lot with custom themes, If that's the case you need help from someone more knowledgeable than me. I'll tag Brian and see if he can sort what the problem is.

arien, change your second sidebar container's ID to something other than "content". That ID is already in use by the Forum Wrapper template and is what's targeted by the shop plugin when it's adding itself to the page.
