pawl made me aware of this a few days ago when I was pestering him about a mod. When you create a thread or post, and don't tag a person, and realise you haven't, so you go back and edit to add the tag, it doesn't notify them in their profile. I think you may have done this deliberately, hence I am asking for it as a feature, rather than reporting it as a bug - though it is possible it could be a bug. If it was made to not work intentionally, can I ask why please? Just curious

To my knowledge it isn't a bug. The primary reason above all is to prevent notification spamming. There are many safeguards in place. However the easiest way to prevent someone from typing out 100 usernames and then editing and resubmitting the post over and over again every 15 minutes is to simply not notify on edit. Obviously the person could just reply with a new post, but staff might notice this a lot quicker if the post being edited was say a year old and wasn't getting bumped from the edits. We have other safeguards as well. Most of the time people aren't going back to add in tags. We want to discourage constant editing as well with regards to notifying people each time. A thread should progress forward in time and posts. If people can keep editing regardless of how much time has passed that is fine, but to keep notifying people from potentially old posts starts to enter a grey area. There are a few other reasons but hopefully that's enough without me needing to detail things for everyone reading this. Thank you.
