Which images are in use

I have several "titlebg" and "catbg" and "background" and stuff uploaded, and have no way of knowing which ones are being used on the theme because it renames them in the url. Could there be somewhere next to the link/name where it either says or shows (by a little icon or something) whether or not they are in use on the theme?


OR alternatively, could you at least not rename the images to complete random letters etc?
I understand of course WHY you do it, but heck, you could at least allow it so it keeps the name in there somewhere.

Currently the "catbg" URL I have been given: storage.proboards.com/0/0/i/QNxGQ7XY0ps7HZdJRJk_.jpg
Why can't it be something like: storage.proboards.com/0/0/i/QNxGQ7XY0_catbg_ps7HZdJRJk_.jpg

The original option would still be preferred (some indication in Theme Manager > Images, as to which are in use on the theme.


On a side note, it even renames some of the actual names (the bit that appears ABOVE the link) for images too. For example, I never name stuff "catbg0". It'd always be "catbg", "catbg2" etc
The only reasoning I can see for this is the fact some times I may over-ride my original image because I know I don't want it, so I call it the original name to purposely over-ride it on my PC. Is that why? Because technically I have it uploaded twice so it renames one?
Even that makes no sense since it doesn't give you proper URL's anyway. It's more confusing because I am "well which version has it randomly changed to "0" at the end".

So many things no with this.

First, your first idea isn't even possible. There's no way to know that information.

Second, you can rename the files in your image area. The URLs are that way for a reason. That won't be changing. There's no reason you can't copy the URL when you need it by going to the image module that has the URL you need. You have to do this anyway so there's no difference then if it were your name.

To add to that we already built in a full system for inserting images into templates that are uploaded to your current theme. See this screenshot below for an example. We renamed the image we uploaded to 'TEST_ME' on the image page.



I don't even understand what you're asking in that last part.

When it comes down to it you are responsible for how you manage your files and how you name things. If your current system isn't working then you need to try something else. You need to learn how our system works and then adjust to work with it, not the other way around. If files rename a certain way when you upload because that name already exists, then don't upload a file with the same name. That's the same as Windows if you paste a new file into a directory with the same name, Windows automatically appends a number to prevent replacing the file. That's the nature of the machine. You need to work with the tools.
