Is there anyway of disabling the hover over the word 'News'? Yes. Remove the following lines of CSS from Themes > Advanced Styles & CSS > Style Sheet.

I have added my coding for this News Feed to my Beta site. Why is Welcome our newest member ******* showing up as the first line of the news feed. It does not show up in my site just my Beta Site. I copied from the operating site to the Beta Site.
How can I turn off welcome to our newest member?

Yes by all means. shoutout1.freemessageboards.com/ Now it does not show up on the home page for me less I am logged in, then it shows up? I wonder now though does the theme I picked or am testing have anything to do with it? Check if you have time but I am betting it is the theme.

Thanks for checking back, it does look to be a change made to the theme itself. To get rid of this, visit your admin panel then navigate to Themes > Layout Templates. On the next page, click the link for the Home template and you'll see the following at the top: <script>
var user = '$[newest_user.escaped]'; var forum = '$[forum.name.escaped]';
$("#news .items").prepend("<div style='width: 895px; float: left;'>Hey, please welcome our newest member " + user + " to the \"" + forum + "\"</div>");
</script> Remove that and that will take care of it
