I don't see a Shoutbox tab after going to Forum Settings. Are you user/1 on that forum or some other staff member? If not user/1 it's possible the group you're in doesn't have the necessary power to access the shoutbox settings. Thanks. That was the issue. I went back to User 1, and changed the permission so Shoutbox could be edited for the Admin group. I then logged back into my normal account which was part of the Admin group, and I enabled Shoutbox. I then hid it using your template change, and it resolved the issue of emoticons not being shown on the quick editor. I can see them now.

I had a feeling it might be a question of power not being assigned to the group when you said you couldn't see the shoutbox tab. The template change is Chris's work so I'll extend your thanks to him as well.

Board link: lifeasarecipehoarder.boards.net/First I'm sorry if this is the wrong forum to post this. I'm using the plugin for the quick reply bbcode buttons and I have added my own smilies but they aren't showing up in the quick reply. It's still showing the default ones. Chris

Will this also fix the issue I'm having now with the smilie dropdown plugin? It's not showing up in the quick reply. The best person to ask about a plugin would be the person who wrote the plugin and since that is not my plugin I would have no special insight on what would or would not affect that plugin.

Hi! I'm having trouble making a new BBcode and am hoping to get some help. I'm not sure if this makes sense but I tried this but it didn't work: [a href="https://www.nationstates.net/nation= (whatever the user places in between the tags)]nation name[/a] Basically, I would like the content written in-between the tags to complete the url in the first one, and when previewed or posted, it turns that text into a named hyperlink. Also if it is possible, I'd like to make it work with [nation]nation name[/nation] as opposed to the clunky code above. For Example: [nation]Madame Victoria[/nation] would then be viewed as Madame Victoria
If anyone can help me with this, I would be most appreciative. Oh and I'm not sure if it will help much, but this was the script we used over on Zetaboards that did this. Is there a way to make it work here on proboards?
<script type='text/javascript' src='http://z1.ifrm.com/0/2/0/p401849/bbtags31_xanik.js'></script><script>ubb_tag("Nation","nation","<a href='http://www.nationstates.net/nation=<% INNER %>'><% INNER %></a>",0,"Links to a nation on NationStates"); ubb_tag("Region","region","<a href='http://www.nationstates.net/region=<% INNER %>'><% INNER %></a>",0,"Links to a region on NationStates");</script>

Hi! I'm having trouble making a new BBcode and am hoping to get some help. Hi madamevictoria , the bad news is this plugin only manages buttons not the bbcode magic behind the buttons themselves. If you can't type out the bbcode by hand and have it work then this plugin is not really going to be of much help since all it does is create editor buttons for BBCodes that may not have a button at the moment or remove unwanted buttons. If you want original content created then you'd make better headway talking to an artist rather than the gallery promoter (this plugin is the promoter not the artist in this scenario) and a good place to commision new artwork would be the Plugin Request board. I'm not sure if this makes sense but I tried this but it didn't work: [ a href="https://www.nationstates.net/nation= (whatever the user places in between the tags)]nation name[ /a] Basically, I would like the content written in-between the tags to complete the url in the first one, and when previewed or posted, it turns that text into a named hyperlink.
There is a plugin named BBCode Factory that could do what you want but I am reluctant to recommend it since it is an unfinished product. I loaded it up on my test forum and added a new template on the BBCode translate tab to translate "nation" into a Proboards BBCode equivalent $[tag.comment. ******************************************** This will add a nation bbcode link ******************************************** ] [a href="//www.nationstates.net/nation= $[tag.text._normalize.trim().replace_all( ,_).encodeURIComponent()]" ] $[tag.text] [/a] A similar template could be written for a "region" BBCode but as I said it is an unfinished product in its alpha phase and undoubtedly contains undiscovered bugs but with the current V5 wysiwyg being put to pasture I am almost confident there won't be any more work done to it. I fixed a few bugs I found when I installed it and have it working to convert [nation]yes[/nation] when typed into the quick reply or on the full reply page into yes. That BBCode Factory plugin however must be above the BBCode Buttons plugin in the admin panel manage plugins list in order to operate properly. You should then be able to use the BBCode Buttons plugin to create a button for the BBCode created by the BBCode Factory plugin.

Oh splendid! I will have a look at this as soon as I can. Thank you so much for the help, it's been a real challenge haha. Edit: It looks like it's not working on my end. When I use it, it will post: [a href="//www.nationstates.net/nation=madame_victoria"]Madame Victoria[/a]
Looking at your screenshot, you've got a different version of the factory that I have, but I can't be sure if that's the issue. I have most of those options, but instead of "Ignore Spacing" I have "Ignore Formatting". I Tried with and without that option, but it gave me the same results. Unless you might have any idea, I might have to look for another option. If you don't, then please don't fret, I am thankful for the help you've provided regardless.

Thanks for this plugin! I hope you can help. I'm fine with editing CSS in theory, have hardly done any of it in practice. I want my custom smileys to show in the quick reply box, so I followed your instructions, but having enabled the shoutbox, making it invisible doesn't work. On my forum we aren't interested in using the shoutbox and it will confuse some members if it sits there visible. Help! I've edited correctly, haven't I? Here's a screenshot, in case you can see a typo that I'm missing:
Tips- If you define custom smiley emoticons in your admin panel this plugin has no access to that data so if you wish those custom smileys to show up in the plugin then enable the shoutbox so the plugin can grab them from the shoutbox, you can still hide the shoutbox, if that is what you wish, by editing the shoutbox template so it becomes hidden but remains enabled
see spoiler for an alternate explanationPerhaps this will be more understandable... If you have smilies other than the standard smilies defined in your admin panel then those smilies would not be available for the BBCode plugin to access on certain pages. In order to have those custom smilies appear when using quick reply you must enable the shoutbox. With the shoutbox enabled the BBCode plugin can grab the smilies from the shoutbox. If you do not want the shoutbox to display for your members and visitors then the image I posted shows how to edit the shoutbox layout to effectively hide it (but still have it remain enabled) This has nothing to do with any other plugin or even how you host your smilies. As long as you've told the admin panel which smilies you want to use it will send those smilies to the shoutbox but it will not send them to a plugin. The plugin therefore cheats by copying off the shoutbox's paper when the teacher is not looking...
[div style="width:50%;margin:auto;background-color:hotpink;border:solid 2px;border-radius:5px;"][div style="padding:3px;"][b style="font-size:2em;"]Notice:[/b] [p]This plugin has never at any stage in its life made any AJAX calls or indirectly made calls to any private widget methods that made an AJAX call. With the exception of [u]one person[/u] constantly stating that it does and others doing a Michele Bachmann and repeating this [b]as fact[/b] without proper collaborating evidence and verification (such as a reproducible environment) such talk will be filed under my BS folder until such time as empirical evidence arise to refute or confirm.
