Sorry, I lost you there. The Pages use the same Thread Template so I can't get it into each Post? If you placed a Reply button into each post on the Recent Posts page it would also show up in posts in actual threads (like the one you're reading right now. Hi. ). Yes, exactly. That's what they want. To be able to click Reply from whatever Post they are in, where ever they are viewing it from, which would include Recent Posts. Can I do that? Add a Reply text near my Back to Top text at the bottom of every post?

I got a bit lost in this thread as people are asking for different things/places etc for the reply button. If you want the reply button next to the quote button like this : Then you could try this plugin : Reply Button Next To Quote In Threads 0.0.2(maybe it can be done via templates but I haven't looked at the template system properly yet) I could probably expand this to the recent posts but can you reply to a post without seeing the whole thread and other comments that have been made?

Pebble Yes, inside each individual post was the original intent of this thread, which could be beside the Quote button or at the bottom of the post. This plug-in is great thank you. Expanding it to display in the Recent Posts to perform the same way is also what I was hoping for. Doesn't matter if you see the entire thread or not, just to be able to click Reply while reading through posts in the Recent Post screen. Currently you can do this with the Quote button, just want to add Rely there also.

I guess that's doable. Kind of weird, imo. But here you go. Structure > Layout Templates > Thread > Post ListFind the regular buttons and add the line in red to them.

It did add the Reply button where I wanted it, but doesn't work, only brings up an "Oops the thread you are trying to access could not be found" error page. Looks like the path isn't what it expects it to be. If we can get around this error great, because my membership is, like myself, old and crusty and resists change in a big way. But, they could do it in v4 so they keep bugging me. PatP if you're reading this I don't mean you (PatP is my other admin who visits here also)

I believe that causes it to run Javascript that attempts to get text from the quick reply box, similar to hitting the reply button above the quick reply box after you've already typed text. I've updated my original post to reflect this change.

Sorry to bother users and to bother Brian ... but is the same thing doable for PM too? I've tried (Conversations Template): Reply ... but of course that didn't work (button appears but links to 'Oops' error page... I guess that $[message.conversation_id] is definetly not the right thing to write because it doesn't link to anything, but I wasn't able to figure out what the proper link is...) Thanks for help !

The messages use $[conversation.id], but it doesn't exist where the quote and edit buttons are so it wouldn't work for PMs.
