So we have things which roll around every 6 months or so that we put in the news feed, and usually this involves retyping them.
It'd be neat if there was a way to disable them rather than delete them. So they could simply be reinstated (and the info edited if necessary)
And also maybe group them so a couple could be enabled or disabled together.

Why not create a thread (sticky?) in a [staff] board for it, and store them there?

Would be a nice feature to be able to have several lines in the fader and be able to "lock" some of them instead of erasing them to prevent them to be shown and then just "unlock" them when you want them to be shown.

I'm not one for using a fader/news feed, but I understand and think it would indeed be a great feature to have. I just think what the argument would, or could be, is what I posted above.

Sticky topics don't show on the homepage, things with lots of info we do do through stickied announcements on all boards but little things like 'Turndays this season: x, y z.' and 'Go see the Hatching!' would be silly in a thread. The news fader is the perfect place for them. Little things people want to see when they log on to the homepage.

You said that you have things happen every so many months, so you REUSE a specific piece of news. So to STORE those OLD news feeds is what I was suggesting to use a topic for. So stick them there and (be sure to name them appropriately) then you can simply go back to it when you need to use it again.

Indeed, I do currently have a list of things for copy pasting into the news feed, not kept on the forum. Just thought it might make a nice feature

This is certainly a feature that would be a good improvement for that page down the road. I'll make a note of it in our v5.x features list.
The ability to check a box to enable or disable the field would be very useful.
