Shout Box Sound/Beep On Post And New Message

It claims that I'll require an Upgraded Account to "Pro" which costs $9.99 a month to get a Public Folder on my account. Is there some other alternative that is entirely free?

If that is the case then Dropbox have changed their policy's regarding new accounts and public folders. Sorry , there's nothing I can do about that. It does seem that new accounts there don't get a public folder.
You may find other hosts that supply that service by reading through this thread, or someone else may post that has found an alternative way of doing it.

I installed the plug in and it works great, however, it doesn't stop beeping? As in, it keeps repeating itself over and over--is there something I can do to fix that?

I think this has already been mentioned in this thread ( or another one ) and it was because of a template mod to the shout box. If I remember correctly, it was from an imported theme...

I would say that it is because you have hot-linked to the sounds at Soundjay.com and they've blocked some of your Ip's. From the first post in this thread :

IMPORTANT

Sound Jay is an excellent site to get your shout box sounds from. It is a free service, so please do not abuse it and hot-link to their files. It has been brought to my attention that they are receiving 30 hits per minute because people are hotlinking. Remember that if you hot-link, it is not just you, but everyone of your members/guests that downloads the file.
I have been told that SJ will be changing the file locations to stop this happening and if it continues then you may be blocked from the site completely.
Just as this plugin is free, the sounds are supplied free. Download the sounds to your computer and then host them somewhere (such as dropbox).

Hi! I've uploaded my files to dropbox, and when I click share, they give me the following links:

Well the sound doesn't..make a sound?? I downloaded the files from soundjay like you suggested and followed the instructions using dropbox, but the dropbox doesn't have "copy public link" anymore. So my question is did I do something wrong/how do I get the sound I chose to show up using my dropbox account?

I think I mentioned this in one of the many pages before this one. When I joined dropbox, the public folder was free, but it is now a paid service. Probably due to codes like mine using their resources.

There must be other services out there that offer this for free but I don't know any ( because I use dropbox ) and no-one has come forward to offer another service they use.
Sorry that this is not much help to you but maybe someone will come forward and let people know of a free service with a public folder.
