I just want all members to gain karma for new posts/threads automatically? A little more karma for creating threads too.

No, I want it be like a merit system. If possible I'd like there to be a permission for staff to take karma away from members for immature behavior but, cannot give karma.

Wouldn't that be taken care of by the post count?

Well then, what i suggest you do, is use the Monetary Plugin. Disable anything that you don't want. And just name the money Karma. And see how that works out for you.

Is there a simple code for adding the total karma score to the mini profile?
Nevermind, I am an idiot and missed a line of code.
Sorry this coding thing is very new to me. Thank you for putting this altogether

I've installed everything correctly I think and I am able to see Exalt/Smite, but no one else on my board can. Why? Here is the board: natecorbitt.proboards.comETA: Second, the way it's showing up now is Karma: # Exalt on the first line and then Smite on the second line. Is there anyway to get Exalt and Smite on the same line and Karma on its own line?

<br /><font size="1">Likes: $[user.likes] {/if} {/if} {if $[user.miniprofile_badge]} <div class="$[user.miniprofile_badge_container_class]"> {foreach $[user.miniprofile_badge]} $[user.miniprofile_badge.icon] {/foreach} </div> {/if} </div>
No system What am I doing wrong? Why is it so hard to do these plug-ins and get them working?

I've installed everything correctly I think and I am able to see Exalt/Smite, but no one else on my board can. Why? Here is the board: natecorbitt.proboards.comETA: Second, the way it's showing up now is Karma: # Exalt on the first line and then Smite on the second line. Is there anyway to get Exalt and Smite on the same line and Karma on its own line? I think I might know why no one else can see exalt/smite. When you edit the template to add the karma system code, you are changing only the template of the current skin you are using... therefore, the karma system will only appear when you use that specific skin and if someone else is using a different skin on their end, they will not be able to see it. In order for everyone to be able to see and use the karma system, the code will have to be added into every individual skins template so it can be used no matter which skin someone chooses. Try this out to see if I'm right. change your skin to the one you were using when you added the Karma system code and make sure you can see and use the exalt/smite options. If you can see and use it, edit your profile and choose a different skin. If you no longer see the exalt/smite options, then you have your answer. As for your second question, try this code instead and see if that fixes it: <div class="headings"> karma: <span class="userKarmaNumber$[user.id]"></span> <br /><a class="addUserKarma">exalt</a> | <a class="takeUserKarma">smite</a>

Let me know if that worked...

Thanks that worked! How did you do it? Trial and error. I don't know jack about coding, but I like challenges . I just used shorty's original code on the first page as a starting point and then added and subtracted some variables in the code using variables already in the default forum code as references. Glad to know I could help!

I just wish these coders made it easy. They seem to not make instructions clear enough for people that don't know much about computing code.

I just wish these coders made it easy. They seem to not make instructions clear enough for people that don't know much about computing code. True, but in all fairness, they're doing everyone a favor and taking their own time to create these plugins/codes... so I tend not to let it trouble me too much. But, yeah, I do understand your frustration. At least these things are done on an open forum where anyone can help out instead of having to rely solely on one person. Of course... I don't know how many people out there that don't know anything about coding who would spend over an hour trying to do what I just did just for the challenge Another thing I wanted to mention to you too... don't forget that you can change the words Karma, Exalt, and Smite to whatever you want to as well, if you're not aware of it already. Just find the part of the code that looks like this -- <div class="headings"> karma: <span class="userKarmaNumber$[user.id]"></span> <br /><a class="addUserKarma"> exalt</a> | <a class="takeUserKarma"> smite</a> -- and change the bold & italicized to whichever words you want. For example, if you want to change "Exalt" to "Fist Bump", just change Exalt to Fist Bump in the piece of code.
