One more thing - I went to the Karma tab of a member in their profile to change his Karma number, but I don't see that option. Is there not a section for me put any number I want to for the Karma like in V4?

Also so people are able to see who Exalts or Smites them with this version as opposed to it being private before in V4?  Can I turn that off and keep it private as I think my members would prefer it that way? Also does the time between Karma/Smites have to apply to me as well?

You click the karma number. Right now no way to make it private. And the time applies to everyone.

I figured out how to change the Karma numbers in people's accounts, so don't worry about that. I just want to know if I can disable members from seeing who Exalts and Smites. Then I am good to go.

We were recently using Karma, and had two members get self-banned for Exalting each other too much.

We are thinking of turning this back on, but would like to have an idea of what to tell people to avoid future self-banning.

Well, one thing I'd look at is how often people are allowed to give karma. If there's no limit, and they can do it over and over, then that would be the problem. But if you have it set for at least 5 min in between, it shouldn't be an issue. If it's already set for that or more, and they got banned, then it probably wasn't for giving karma.

If I wanted to make it so you can only exalt and smite specific membergroups, would using the Write permissions to exclude all groups besides those I want for it do the job?

If I understand correctly, you only want to give to certain membergroups. But all membergroups can give to them, then no this would not work. Changing the write permissions would make it so that certain membergroups cannot give to anyone.

Ahh, alright. Yes I wanted to make it so you can only give or take karma from particular groups. Is there any way currently possible for this? Perhaps an {if} statement around the karma class in the mini-profile layout template (on my end, not yours) so it only shows up for specific groups and thus can only be given to/taken from certain groups?

Maybe. I don't know what variables are available, I think you know it better than I do. You would also have to add the html for those other groups and just add style="display:none;" to it so that it doesn't show.
