Automatically Go to Last Read Post

I would like to request the ability to have that automatic bookmark feature where you returned to the last post/page you accessed within a thread like we had in V4. In V5, you pretty much get taken to the first page in the thread no matter what.

New Icons and Thread Titles in v5 function identical to v4 with regards to where they link.

New icons in v5 take you to the last unread post.




Now with that said, on conversion there is an anomaly. If you are clicking icons that were new for you before you converted that are still new for you now then they are going to take you to the first page. We had no way of knowing what you had and hadn't read yet in v4 when we converted to v5 down to the specific post. That means any thread that was new for you that you hadn't read before the conversion is now considered completely new. In about a week you won't even notice this effect anymore. It's only because you just converted and there are still old new links for you. This will just correct itself in once your new links are actually new v5 new. I hope that makes sense.

Thanks Ryan. I understand what you're saying about everything basically being "new" since the conversion, and time will tell ... but honestly I don't think that's the problem. 

There are threads that have been started since the conversion and the same problem occurs with those, being taken back to the first post instead of back to the last-read post.

If and only if you are absolutely positive that it is happening then report it as a bug in the bugs board.

But as you can see here on Support where it's been a couple months since we converted its not an issue at all. If you're running a converted forum then you a running the same code.

So that leaves 2 possibilities. You are having this problem on an outdated conversion of a BetaZone copy of your forum or perhaps you installed a plugin that is breaking your new icons. If it's your real forum running v5 and you have no plugins then by all means report it as a bug. It's just highly unlikely that your forum has a bug completely unique to itself.

There is one final possibility too. Is this only happening on one or two boards on your forum, or in every single one? If there is a bug maybe it's something unique like a board type or a setting you set that causes the bug which is why we haven't seen it here. Testing out a few things and providing these bits of information would help whoever takes your bug report.
