Staff notes in the Admin Panel

Having just done the first seasonal update since we converted to V5 I first want to say how easy it was The new news fader is great and the plugins make updating things user easy as there's not reams and reams of code to scroll through and fiddle with.

And second a feature request:

It'd be neat if there was just a little text box on the Admin Control Panel for admins to leave each other notes. (I guess this won't make the list because we could PM each other or use something like a staff specific global message but thought it didn't hurt to ask seeing as it'd be nice to just be able to leave a 'all updated to Late Spring' or 'Done season can you do Turndays?' or 'trying out this change please don't change that' message on the CP for them to see)

Maiden - would I be right in thinking that you don't have a Staff/Admin only board - which isn't viewable accessible to your regular members? I'd be lost without mine - me and my staff discuss so much there.

You'd be wrong. We do have a staff board that isn't accessible to regular members, and it falls under my note about why this request probably won't be accepted - I imagine we don't use it as widely as you as there are only two of us so we just PM usually

Having a staff board doesn't change the fact that having a brief note (we're only talking a few lines max here) section in the ACP would be nice for little things when editing themes/layouts/plugins rather than having to go PM/post a thread or reply as it's there in situ for the person to see (often I go straight to doing admin things, especially updates if I know they have to be done today)

I hear what you are saying but I still think creating thread/s on your staff board is the way to go, you can refer back to threads much easier than you can to PMs IMO.

The point is that these aren't things that need to be referred back to, they're just little 'hey heads up I've already done x so don't worry about it'

I do just that in a staff general chat thread. But hey, it's not my place to say yea or nay to your request.

For now we are content with the many many ways we already provide for you to communicate with your staff. So we won't be adding anything like this.

That being said I have previously considered some sort of sticky-note plugi,n if you will, for the admin area (created by ProBoards obviously) that would allow staff to place notes on any page within the admin area. Even if it was just an icon or drop down box at the top. If it was empty it would be collapsed, but if there was a note it would be expanded on page load (or the icon would be lit up). Something like that. Anyway.

This really isn't a priority at all with all the other ways to communicate. If you jump straight to the admin area before checking in on your staff board maybe you should be adjusting your habits to solve the problem. So not now. Maybe someday.
