Is it possible to add an edit button to the PM system so that members can go back and edit or add to their own messages if they've missed something or made an error.
Btw my members much prefer the V5 PM system to the old V4 system.

You can't edit conversations.
This will help you understand it better.
Are they laid out like threads? Yes, to keep it simple and easy to understand. Are they threads? No. They are messages chained together.
Do you use GMail? Or maybe whatever email you use does this to. Conversations are simply a chain of PMs. PMs, much like emails have been sent away. You aren't viewing a post currently like you are in a thread. You are viewing a message which has already been sent. It's like GMail with it's chain of emails. You see them one after another stacked because they all have the same subject and the same participants. If any of those things changes it starts a new chain. Conversations are very much the same way. You can't edit something that you sent away. I know that you are still looking at it. But what you are actually looking at, just like in emails, is a copy of what you sent away.
So sorry, no Edit. Because you would just be editing a copy. Not the actual message itself. I hope that made sense.

I do understand what you are saying Ryan, but I also know that editing PMs is something that can be done. I'm a member of a couple of forums that use software provided by IPBoards and the PM system there includes the ability to edit a PM. Having said that the IPBoards software is full of bugs and from what I hear their tech support isn't up to much either, so as a trade off for far superior tech support from the ProBoards staff I can live without being able to edit PMs. It's not really a big issue for me, just something I thought I'd mention.

Having said that the IPBoards software is full of bugs and from what I hear their tech support isn't up to much either, so as a trade off for far superior tech support from the ProBoards staff I can live without being able to edit PMs. It's not really a big issue for me, just something I thought I'd mention. I just told you it can't be done. You've sent the message away, like an email it's gone. Please don't site other (inferior ) forum services that have set up their system completely differently. Just because they made their PMs a localized system doesn't mean that we would copy that. I explained to you in detail why this can't be done. We built our system from scratch off of email logic. You can't edit emails. The message is no longer where you can edit it. It is out and about waiting to be read (or it has been read) in the recipient's inbox. Your copy is just that, a copy. Editing a copy would do nothing. The conversation view is simply an improved system of viewing your messages in a stack to make it easier to see replies back and forth. There are other features that are available on ProBoards v5 as a result of this mentality and structure. Having individual copies ensures other things work in a superior fashion. Editing messages sitting in another persons inbox would be no different than being able to delete messages in another persons inbox. Think of the abuse editing (deleting) opens up. I could send a harassing PM and then simply edit (delete) it after you read it before you can do anything. Compared to our system which allows for everyone to manage their own localized copies, including the ability to forward PMs to staff if a problem should arise. We won't be adding an Edit feature to a message system, sorry. Thank you.

I understand your reasons, Ryan, and I wasn't arguing with you. As I said it's no big deal and something I'm happy to do without.
