Sorting Threads by title, Author etc

This question from one of my members.

i've only just now realized that you can no longer sort the threads by title or author alphabetically. this was a very helpful function in trying to locate older threads/posts/quotes/comments/etc. any chance that function might be restored?

I think the argument with this is that the new search is a lot better than the old one, and allows you to search for lots of different things.
For example, when you're in a board, click the search icon () and you can search for: Created by, Locked, Even, Polls, Start Date, Replies.

If a board also has labels enabled in it, you can also search that too.

Incidentally, what do you mean by labels?
How can I make sure they're enabled?

Labels are something that have to be created manually, on a per board basis.
Go to Admin > Structure > Categories and Boards

Select a board to edit, and click "Edit Properties". In the "About" section you should see it say "Labels" at the bottom.
Type in a label (example: say you're board is to help people, you can have a few labels one for "Resolved" one for "Unresolved" etc). You can also set a colour for Labels too, per label.

Now once saved, go out of your Admin panel, and into the board you just added a label.
You have to select topics to put the label onto in order for it to show.

So, select a topic on the thread page, and then go to Actions > Labels. Pick the label to apply

Stinky666 is correct. We have created the new search system to handle sorting things. There are filters like he described. And moving forward we will be adding more options. Alphabetical sorting has been requested numerous times and I believe we may be adding it or something similar in at some point. But it won't be until a much later update after launch.
