I've updated to v1.0.3 to fix a bug that would prevent guest users from posting. The bug was introduced in v1.0.2, but v1.0.2+ also fixes various other issues, hence an update to v1.0.3 is strongly recommended. Soundclouds embedded with previous versions will not be impacted by the update.

comaprison: For whatever reason, the file attachments in the OP are no longer valid. You can get the latest version of the plugin by visiting the official Proboards plugin library. I'll update the OP to reflect the fact that the links there no longer work.

saviocajetandsouza and interested parties: VSoundCloud has been updated to v1.1.0, which now supports MixCloud tracks, updated players in the default settings, and a broader variety of formats for inserting tracks. Both SoundCloud and MixCloud have several options under "Share". They both provide an embed code, a Wordpress code, and SoundCloud also provides a direct link. Furthermore, tracks can be referenced by URL in both cases as well (which can be manually copied out of the address bar). To reduce confusion, I've added a customizable set of instructions to the "Insert Track" dialog box, and the plugin now allows either the embed code or the Wordpress code or the URL for any track to be pasted into the field provided. The plugin will determine the appropriate URL. I've updated the documentation and screenshots in the OP. An important note is that although v1.1.0 is backwards compatible with previous versions, the BBCode mode of the editor now uses [sound] tags instead of [soundcloud] tags to reflect the fact that the plugin also supports MixCloud. Editing pre-v1.1.0 posts will show embedded tracks as [sound] tags. Also note that I recommend overwriting the existing plugin settings when updating the plugin since the player markup has changed to reflect the latest and greatest players. If you keep your existing settings, the old pre-v1.1.0 markup will still be used. Updating the plugin will also affect the appearance of tracks embedded with previous versions of the plugin. The plugin should be available shortly in the Proboards Library. For now you can find v1.1.0 here: VSoundCloud.pbp (11.82 KB)

Hello! I'm happy to see this plug-in, I'm going to try it out, but I also have a question: I would love to embed a player onto my front page. I had the idea of having a song of the day sort of thing right at the home page. I'm wondering, can I copy and past css into my home page for this? I'm still very new at all of this and I just have to work by trial and error. Any advice you can pass my way would be much appreciated!!
Very cool plug-in, thanks for the info!

AutumnSkye: Do you know how to modify page templates? If so, to get a player on your homepage: - place a <div id="musicplayer"></div> tag into your home page template at the location where you want the player to appear
- install Wormopolis' plugin HTML Injections
- in the plugin settings, create a "chunk" with identifier musicplayer
- copy and paste the embed code (found under Share) of the music track you want into the "HTML chunk"
When you want to change the music, simply delete the existing embed code and replace it with a new one.
If you want to get rid of the player entirely at some point, just disable or delete the HTML Injections plugin.
If you're not comfortable with modifying page templates, I can also suggest some alternatives.

Thank you. I am beginning to understand style sheets yes, and I started reading up on how to add containers. What I did before I got your response was I used the global footer and this is what I used there: <div align="left"><div class="container song"><div class="title-bar"><h2>Song Of The Day</h2></div> <div align="right"><iframe width="100%" height="120" scrolling="no" frameborder="no" src="https://w.soundcloud.com/player/?url=https%3A//api.soundcloud.com/tracks/104102009&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false&visual=true"></iframe></div> It gave me the title bar style template across the bottom of the page that was identical to the rest, and I modified the size of the of player window ie height. I think I might have a useless div class spec up there but, I figured it didn't matter much anyway though, since the player showed and behaved properly. along with the rest of the assigned template styles. Thank you again! I love this forum!!!

VSoundCloud v1.1.0
| RELEASE |
Author: Virgil Sovereign Plugin: VSoundCloud v1.1.0 Release - Visit Proboards Plugin Library to Download Permissions: Editable Keys Used: None Description: | Adds WYSIWYG editor support for embedding SoundCloud and MixCloud tracks in posts. The tracks can be identified by their embed codes, Wordpress codes, or track URLs, all of which can be obtained from the Share option associated with tracks on soundcloud.com and mixcloud.com.
The plugin adds a button to the WYSIWYG editor (and if present, the augmented Quick Reply) that inserts a [sound] tag in BBCode mode and a SoundCloud/MixCloud placeholder in Visual mode. When posted, the contents of a [sound] tag are replaced by an embedded SoundCloud/MixCloud player and (optionally) a link to the embedded track.
Note that prior to v1.1.0, VSoundCloud used [soundcloud] tags rather than [sound] tags in the BBCode mode of the editor. When updating to v1.1.0+, tracks embedded by previous versions of VSoundCloud will still function properly but will be represented by [sound] tags in the editor.
Customizable settings in the plugin UI are:
- URL or graphic resource used for the WYSIWYG editor button
- editor button tooltip and 'Insert Track' dialog box caption
- instructions presented to the user in the 'Insert Tack' dialog box
- error message presented to the user when an invalid/unknown track is specified
- SoundCloud player markup
- MixCloud player markup
The plugin is equipped with a stylesheet that can be edited in the 'Build' mode of the plugin to fully customize the look and feel of the SoundCloud player, MixCloud player, SoundCloud placeholder and/or MixCloud placeholder in the WYSIWYG editor.
The plugin is also equipped with reasonable default settings to work 'out of the box'. |
Screenshots:Fig. 1 - An editor button allows for simple insertion of SoundCloud/MixCloud tracks in both editor modes. Visual mode is shown here, with the default 'insertscmc' resource (packaged with the plugin) used as a button graphic. Clicking the button will open a dialog where an embed code, Wordpress code, or track URL can be entered/pasted to insert a track. Tracks appear as placeholders in the visual mode of the editor, with a look and feel defined by the editor stylesheet in the 'Build' section of the plugin. The default L&F is shown here. Fig. 2 - The editor is shown in BBCode mode, where embedded tracks are represented by [sound] tags. The track is inserted at the caret (cursor) location. The tag can also be typed in manually. Fig. 3 - When viewed in threads, tracks are replaced by standard SoundCloud/MixCloud players and links to the embedded tracks. The exact markup used to render the players and links is customizable in the plugin UI. The look and feel can also be modified by editing the display stylesheet in the 'Build' section of the plugin. The default L&F as of v1.1.0 is shown here. Fig. 4 - The GENERAL tab of the plugin UI is shown here. Fig. 5 - The PLAYERS tab of the plugin UI is shown here. Bugs and Feedback: | Please notify me of any problems you may have in this thread and I will do my best to resolve any issues promptly.
I may also consider certain feature requests if they are reasonable and won't bulk up the code too much.
Aside from that, sweet dreams in the SoundCloud and MixCloud! |
Update to v1.0.1 | - Fixed problems related to Proboards changes in WYSIWYG backend. - Fixed bug where embedded players did not reload when hot-swapping content into pages. |
Update to v1.0.2 | - Minor bug fixes. - Updated default SoundCloud player embed code. |
Update to v1.0.3 | - Fixed bug preventing guest users from posting. |
Update to v1.1.0 | - Added support for MixCloud tracks. - Added support for embed codes and Wordpress codes as well as track URLs. - Added instructions to the "Insert Track" dialog box. - Updated default player HTML embed codes to modern (iframe-based) versions. - Various improvements and minor bug fixes.
