Exchange/Re-gift Badges

When you have multiple of the same badges, it's kind of pointless.
My suggestion is to be able to regift some of your extra ones, or at the least do an exchange or something.

Perhaps one or both of these could be added, but maybe you guys could add a twist of your own (plz no extra fee though to exchange/regift )

Many badges are regiftable. Some aren't. It's based on the badge. This is already a feature.

What I am asking for though, is for all (except for stuff similar to hit by a snowball) to be regiftable when you have more than 1 of them.

The badges created by the Hot Potato were like the Hit By Snowball badge. However, Patrick Clinger changed them to be permanent instead of temporary a week or so ago. I'll mention it to him for you. No idea what the results will be.

Oh right ok, well thanks VS Admin for that, I for one do appreciate it.

Even if you put limits, rules, restrictions on exchanging, that would be great.
X amount of exchanges per week, or month or something. Wouldn't even have to be a high one, 3-5 or so would be good enough.

Certain badges, by their nature, are more rare than others. Not all badges are regiftable for this reason. Many are, but we can not simply make every badge regiftable, as that defeats a lot of the purpose and value behind the badges.

How about if we can't exchange/trade badges with one another, we can use them on our accounts on other forums?
I'm assuming that the potato chips badge, and baked potato on here, are only on here, not on other forums this account exists on? So, what about something like that?

Here I have a thank you, but maybe someone else gives me one. Then people can see (by hovering over the icon) that two people thanked me for something on this forum. Over time I may build up ten thank yous, and that would be reflected in my profile.

I might, however, like to see some subtle visual indication in the profile/mini-profile that I had multiple of a badge, without having to hover or click.

A thank you badge is fine to have multiple of, like you said, if you have multiple it shows that multiple people have found your posts to be of help etc
But I'm more talking about the "hot potato" badges (chips, baked, I'm sure there's another one.. can't remember it though).. Those are "pointless" having multiple of.

In your profile it will say "x2" if you have 2 badges, "x3" if you have 3, etc. This already exists.

Specifically, I would like to see a (subtle) indication, preferably graphic and not text, that multiple of that badge are on the profile.

Space is an issue in the mini-profile and we really are trying not to make admin mad by taking up any more than we need to. You can easily hover for the name and quantity of a badge in the mini-profile. And if you click you'll get even more details.

Stack effects were very much what I was thinking, and I can see why they might not read correctly. I'm not a fan of the tooltips to see info, but I fully understand the space issues of the MP. Looks like I'll need a plugin to do this!
