its the same engine that creates the bars. however PAP had a css fix for the notch width that PA never was pushed. so I just submitted v1.2.5 to the library for that. that will fix that weirdness on your live site. I just checked PAP in 3 browsers and its recording post counts correctly for me. I need to be able to see the same bars you are looking at. PAP custom bars go off actual post counts, BUT the general bar in PAP is the same engine as PA has. uses the same variables, and even the same code to generate it. Its possible its picking up a wrong date maybe from somewhere else in the div though. This is my test site. It is set to show both bars but it only shows one. Is the v1.2.5 available at the library or do I need to wait a few days? trueblueliberydev.boards.net/The last time the testblc account was used was Sept 15th. So it should not show any activity on it at all. I'm still unclear on something. I have both plug ins installed at the test site. I disabled the Post Activity, so I could check out the PAP. Is disabling it, not good enough, do I actually need to delete the PA? Is that what I am doing wrong?

looking at BLC vs testblc, they are different results. they just look the same because the math works out. turn on "results on hover" to see the numbers.

looking at BLC vs testblc, they are different results. they just look the same because the math works out. turn on "results on hover" to see the numbers. Except that testblc hasn't been used in WEEKS and should not be showing any progress. I have it set to 7 DAYS. True? I also have it set to show BOTH bars. They were both showing the exact same position when I was just using one section. Using both or trying to, it shows slightly different for the test account, but the test account hasn't been used in weeks. So it should not be registering anything, as I understand it. You had asked me earlier if my admin account posts were made before or after the plug in was installed. Does the timing of when the plug in was installed matter?

when I looked, I only saw the general bar. and it had different values.
did you set the boards for the custom bars? it doesnt look like you chose boards for them to be on. they dont automatically affect every board. on the general bars do that, and the general bars are calculated from post count over time on forum.
the general bar is not calculated from specific activity over a time frame. it is calculated by your total post count, divided by the time since registration. it is an average type of number. thats why it needs registration date. the general bar is the same engine that PA uses.
custom bars dont use registration date, and use actual post count captures each day to determine activity. if you have it set to 7 days, it looks back 7 days at total post count over THOSE days, and then divides by 7. specific boards have to be chosen for custom bars.
and yes, the recording of posts doesnt start until after the plugin is installed.

Ok, I m getting totally confused here. Just went in and chose all boards for both and now I have no bars showing. Edit: I thought maybe I was not supposed to have all boards selected for the top, so I got rid of them. I still have no bars showing.

you put boards into the exclude boards array. ok, I thought I saved after that last change and I must not have. I thought the top worked like the PA and automatically included all boards. Sorry about that. All right, I now have the two bars. They seem to be transposed. The top bar in the form area is at the bottom in the mini profile. So, the general bar isn't really a daily bar. So, why does it ask for a daily amount to be considered active? That's is where I was getting confused.

the "daily amount" is still what you would consider an active user would post. lets say you consider an "active" user to make 1 post a day. that user makes 1 post a day for a few days.. misses a couple days, posts extra on the weekends. lets say by the end of the week he has made 8 posts. his average (for that brief section of time) would be over 1 post per day. but now stretch the section of time to include every post they have made, over the existence of that account. it still calculates their actual posts per day, but then moves the slider based on the number you picked. so lets say that same person made 800 posts over a span of 1000 days (approx 2.8 years). they have averaged 0.8 posts per day then. compared to the 1 post per day you said was "active", their bar would be at the 80% mark.
the custom bars almost work the same, but they dont look at lifetime anything. they literally look at the recorded post ticks stored in the key, for each day over the span you define. so if you literally want the last 7 days worth of activity, you can get it. that slider will fluctuate a LOT more then the general bar would since 7 days of inactivity would set the slider back towards 0. the keys will store up to 90 days worth of data (or less if you need more room for more bars). the custom bars are supposed to be above the general bar since the general bar engine runs second.

Thanks for explaining all that and for patiently walking me through the set up of the PAP plug in. I appreciate it. Edit:

Dont be sorry. If something is crucial then I will still answer the PM. I was just getting a LOT of PMs for little things that had already been answered in support threads for the plugin. Its my way of steering people towards the support threads because 9 times out of 10 the question has already been asked. Im up to 40 plugins now in the library and the number is going to get higher.

Hi, Wormopolis ~ Does the Plus still require the "Joined date" be added? I ask because if it does, I have too many themes to change all those templates. TIA.
