When we reset something to default (template, image, etc.) can we get a visible confirmation of what we're resetting? for example, say the name of the template being reset or show the 100x100 preview image of the image being reset. Asking since it's considered good UX.

Most UX elements like these and others that I try to implement are typically rejected. I propose them at the time of design fairly often. That being said I will try to bring this up again. Certain things in the admin area had similar effects as part of their original designs, but were vetoed by Patrick during development usually for time reasons. I will see if I can come up with a standard that we could implement across the admin area for when defaults are set.
The two I tried before were a highlight color that indicates default settings on form type pages or a bold effect. I will look into other things. If I present it as a standard for everywhere it may be more likely to be accepted, compared to when it was perceived as a frill feature on an individual task.
Also a member like yourself requesting it here like you've done make a huge difference. Patrick tends to listen to members when it comes to making decisions about things. I can reference this request as part of my proposal.
Thank you.

Thanks Ryan. While here, I want to point out the specific use-case that brought this up. Edit TEmplates. Select one with tabs (i.e. Thread). Click "Reset Template" but don't confirm or deny yet. At this point, I don't know whether only the "Thread" template or it and all of it's children templates will be reset. Now, click a tab to change tabs. I have no clue which will be removed. This is just a usability error that can be corrected by either hiding the reset dialog (and unfocusing the yes button in case they hit enter!) OR by also displaying which will be reset as text.

That's a perfect example for me to use. I will come up with something great.
There was a similar issue with saving that we overcame a few months ago. We were having trouble telling if things saved or not. I ended up making the save indicators that you see everywhere now.
This is just the same thing.
Thanks again.
