V5 Coding help wanted thanks :)

Okay so I upgraded my forum to V5 and downloaded the Wildskin template (I'll have to track down the site I found it off as I went through so many different ones trying to find a suitable skin for a wild horse/wolf RP forum) and some how I need to edit the CBOX settings (?) as well as find the <marquee> tags and change the wording in them. But the problem is, with the code, I can't find ANY marquee tags, and even did the Ctrl+F to try that method.
I'm so so close to having it all nice and ready to be finished, but these these little hiccups and ugh is this even a V5 skin or is it V4?

The wild skin is made by elli. It is for V4.

Have you checked out the headers and footers section? Admin > Structure > Headers & Footers

Yes, and nothing is even remotely close to the <marquee> coding in either Global Header & Footer or Main Header & Footer.
Why is Proboards forcing us to upgrade to a site template that hardly anyone actually knows how to use? I was quite comfortable with V4 thanks! >.>

Unless someone can actually take over for a bit and fix this up, I'm so tempted to just dump this whole forum I created and start over - which i've done three times now just to get this far :/

Most Layouts had to be rebuilt, either partially or completely, to be compatible.

There are some V5 templates that you could use and modify to your needs.

Personally I found V5 to be more user friendly. Just fiddle around with stuff.

Okay, 1) I haven't run a wesbite/forum in over 3 years and have only just gotten back into it, so I haven't even become fully used to V4 when I was like "oh they updated their site, okay can't be much of a change" when -BAM- all this new stuff is shoved in your face. 2) To be able to "fiddle around" with anything, I'd have to have a basic understanding of what, exactly, I would be fiddling around with. Which I just pointed out that I don't. 3) You aren't even being helpful at all! You've told me to do one thing, then backpeddled and gone "oh just fiddle around, it's so easy!" No, it isn't. Or I wouldn't be posting in here right now.

Also; I asked for a premade skin. Not one that I can customize. If I actually knew how to make my own, I'd have done it. Can you stop assuming these things and maybe go from the fact that I have told you I know nothing about coding or skins!

Since V5 is still new, there are not many V5 premade skins have been made.

I don't think there is a way to downgrade. It looks like they are trying to get everyone to upgrade.

FallenSamurai This category of support is actually for developers and is not as active as other V5 support boards. If you post in General v5 Discussion you will find many people eager to help you. I hope you will not give up. There are many of us who felt overwhelmed at first, but grew to like v5. There are some (more knowing than I am) who can help with whatever you need.

I'm sorry for sounding harsh, this whole coding jumble has got me overwhelmed and I've been stuck on this one thing for two days now with no leeway. I posted in the V5 general discussion, so hopefully someone can help me out!

If I were more experienced, I would take on trying to sort everything out for you, but I'm just a self-taught grandmother who has to ask a lot of questions myself. I hope you get the help you need soon. Most of the people online right now will be members, not the administrators who have office hours of 9-5 Pacific time. Good luck.

Hi FaeryLove, I would offer my support for upgrading the Wild Skin to v5, but unfortunately have as clear a understanding on v5 as you do at this time.

If I recall correctly, ProBoards recently announced that they wouldn't force upgrades until the end of this year. So while you can't downgrade from v5, you may still be able to create a new forum with v4 and install the skin correctly. By the time you need to upgrade, there will be a better array of themes to choose from.
