Personal Smilies (v 1.3.0)

It sounds to me like a theme is stopping it from working, rather than the plugin itself.

Have you tried switching themes?

Sorry to say Todge, but no matter what I try, nothing works. For now I'm going to disable it.

Thanks so much for all the great work you do for us and I'll keep toying around with this plugin to see what I come up with.

I have put it on our forum and it is working Todge but before the selected smilie it shows this : [img src="

Members are thoroughly enjoying this code Todge and suddenly the [img src="  has gone - dunno if someone has waved a magic wand and I have asked others to test just in case but can you let me know what the reason was perhaps??

If you have an account I can use to log-in with and take a look at the profile page, I'll try to find out what's happening. I find it very strange that no part of the code is working, that tells me that the theme manger plugin is changing parts of the forum that this code is trying to access.

That's a strange one. If the smilie you tried to post had a strange character in the URL, it could feasibly do that, but then, I would have thought the URL itself would be invalid.

Hi Todge.. At this point.. It works if BBcode is selected. I have 2 themes..One I made.. And an imported theme.. So both themes have different CSS.

If using Visual.. I, or members get the  [img src=" in both Themes

I'm wondering if it might be something in one of my headers or footers scripts since the scripts cross theme?

As I learn more about this CSS coding etc,etc.. I will be trying to do everything in the Template and no longer use headers and footer like V4.5

We seem to be having a problem with the Personal Smilies Todge..

I have got a post from a member panicking a little that the Personal Smilies were a) not accessible - you can't click on Personal Smilies when you reply although the wording is still there and b) in profile the PS that she had saved were all missing suddenly....

Not sure if it is a clue and I will post on the right thread but members are clicking on a default smilie at the end of a post and the reply shows them at the front quite a lot...

I am starting to wonder if this isn't a bit of a browser problem Todge ?? I am just waiting to see what my members are using but it seems to be stopping suddenly and then starting - the [img src=" seems to be back and one member has no problems whatsoever !!

The problem that I see isn't that it suddenly stops as such but that all the smilies that have been saved have suddenly gone - members aren't going to add them time and time again...

Our smilies are hosted by Photobucket and to be honest their Beta is a load of rubbish at the moment - wonder if could be associated with that??

I think it's browser related. I host on Photobucket, too. And on IE the plugin works great without flaw.

On both Chrome and FF, everything works except the personal smilies.

I can't figure it out. They worked for a bit on both of those browsers and now they don't. But again, only the personal category.

The current plugin use localStorage to store the smiley URLs. I did that because of the available space to save the smiley addresses, so, if you users are deleting their histories, or have their browsers set to clear the storage, then the plugin will 'forget' the smilies. I will be making another version that uses a key, but I will probably limit the amount of smileys a member can save due to the space limitations.

The '[img src="' error has me stumped, I can't recreate that error, and so cannot find the problem.

Could one of you that has this error PM me your smiley URLs, I assume it has something to do with them.

Since my personal images are working in IE, Todge, I don't think it could be my urls, otherwise, I'd PM you.

Well this explains the fact that smilies are disappearing - a lot of us clear history each day which of course means that it is unusable for us which is a terrible shame as it was fun and people enjoyed it, the short time that they could play around.

I have asked for copies of Url's - well if they haven't been deleted that is...will PM them to you when and if I get any.
