Todge or anyone else, this may have been asked and answered before,but how do I get personal smilies to appear in shoutbox please?

The default etc smileys appear ,but not personal ones.

At the moment, I'm afraid you can't.

This is something I thought about trying to add a while back, but as no-body had asked for it I decided to save myself the hassle.. Now with V6 somewhere around the corner I'm a little apprehensive of making drastic changes to larger plugins that may need substantial work to make them V6 compatible.

I am having a bit of trouble getting the personal smiles to work:

I am using this link to test:

its on google photos,

I am using fire fox,

When I put the bbcode in front it goes to a broken image, see example in my post where it says 139


when I put just the link in, it shows nothing see where it says 140







And both times there is a broken image in the drop down box of the smilies.

and when I click on it,

it put the bbcode onto it






Also I am uncertain, when I put the link in,


1 - do I click set changes
or
2 click save

Hi Capt Anita Thomas..

The link you posted is a broken link.. If you are using that as your image then I'd say that that is your problem.
I have never used Google Photos, so I have no idea how they work.. If you can post a picture hosted on there normally, then it 'should' work with this plugin.

And... To save your smilies, you should click 'Set Changes'.

To check on the links you add to your Personal Smilies list, if your hover the mouse over a link, the image should appear to the right of the Set Changes button. If it doesn't, or you get the broken image symbol, then there is something wrong with the link.

Is it possible for you to try a different image host as a test?

I am trying to find a photobucket alternative, the link worked first and now it doesn't, so I guess that is out.

I will try to find another host.

imgBB, TinyPic and imgur are all meant to be good, though I've never used either, so don't take my word for it.

Photobucket recently made some changes that makes it difficult to use their site as a generic image host.

Try fotki.com, I transferred all my stuff there. Their rates are MUCH more reasonable than the ransom Photobucket is asking for.

Hi, the personal smileys are working and the plugin is enabled but no one on the board sees the place with links to add emoticons under settings

Assuming the link in your signature is the site you are having the problem on, you are using version 1.1.9 of the plugin.

Updating it to the current version (1.2.61) should fix the problem.

Heyas Todge - I'm afraid I'm going to be a pain again (I'm REALLY sorry about this) - so the images I'm using are rather large, the rest of the proboards smileys are downsized through css that controls how large they go, as they all have the class of 'smilie' on the image, is there anyway this code could make it so the same is true for personal smilies?

Hello Todge - I just installed v. 1.2.61 on my forum, and all seemed to be ok, until I tried a test message to view the personal smilies I added...
They do show up but here is what I got and I have no clue how to fix this or what I am doing wrong.  I am quite new to all this so thank you in advance for your assistance!

It looks like your image URLs are not recognised by the code. Could you either post or PM me URLs of your images so I can try them and see..
