v5 PM Outbox

Do we really need a PM outbox?

Now PM's are like threads surely the outbox is redundant.

What do the rest of you guys think?

I am in total agreement - I find it absolutely confusing and unnecessary... plus I keep forgetting to look there!!

I've sent several PM's to members, and have not had a reply to them, so an outbox is the place i can check what i sent and when

If the PM system was to work on the same/similar lines as the message system on Facebook you would know who you'd PM'd Patrick [ASE].

With the system as it is now you can't see if a message has been opened - Patrick also said that there wasn't any intention to change that situation - or am I missing something Patrick..

ASE is saying that PMs that have been sent and not replied to can be found there, nothing about whether or not they have been read.

Yes I gathered that RedBassett but it would be the same if it was all in one list - surely?? If, as Patrick C says, there are no plans to show whether a message has been opened, I can't see the point in having an Outbox - seems a waste of time really. Unless there is a software problem that makes it essential to have an Outbox??

It's not redundant, because if you send a lot of message syou don't need them cluttering up your inbox. It's useful just for what Pat said.

But when 'a lot of messages' are replied to they end up in the in-box, and stay there. LOL

Messages only stay in the outbox it they aren't replied to.

If you don't want a message to stay in your inbox, you can always archive it.

Oh yes I realise that VS Admin. What I mean is once a PM is replied to/ongoing it moves from the outbox to in the inbox.

As it should, because it acts like a thread. Otherwise you would have no idea someone replied to you. When someone replies to an email of yours in gmail, the email they sent doesn't go to your outbox and skip the inbox. Why would this be any different?
