Don't want to change over to V5

I received an email saying that my forum site was going be changed over to v5 on April 29th.
I do not want this to happen... I have not requested

I changed one of my other forums and all the links either no longer worked or disappeared and if this happens with my main forum site then I may as well close the site

How can I stop this from occurring please..

Hi,

In that same message it had the opt-out information. You can opt out until the end of the year, just visit your forum, click the "Upgrade to v5 link" and at the bottom of the page there is an "Opt-out until December 31st" button

Hi, Sandy.

If you click on the upgrade link at the top of your forum's admin area, you have the option at the bottom of the page to opt out of V5 until the very end of 2013. However, this is not a permanent solution - at the end of 2013 it will inevitably be converted to V5.

With that in mind, if you want to get the forum you changed working correctly all you have to do is ask us for help. I've personally been able to help convert 3 or 4 forums to both work in V5 and look almost exactly like their V4 counterparts.

V5 is not a broken software version. Any problems your forum is having can be remedied. You just need to ask.

I have over 3000 links ... the mere thought of having to change each and every one of them is mind boggling to say the least

If the change over is inevitable ... I appreciate the offer to help fix everything up but I personally just don't have that sort of time on my hand like I did when I first set it up... I know you have offered to help Brian, my part I feel would be quite large in the change over also and I'm just not able to give that time at the present and once the site changes over the point of its existence would be next to useless

Thank you both for your replies, I have had a wonderful time with Proboards over the many years I have been in association with you and my members and myself have really grown with all the information I have been able to pass on to a huge amount of people, I guess everything must come to an end at some time

What links are these? Most links in posts should carry over to V5 with no problem.

Sandy, they might be able to figure out a way to make your links work once converted. Wouldn't hurt to ask.

If you don't mind me asking, what links are you speaking about? When the forum converts, the old links to posts should still work, but if you could provide some examples we can take a look. I'm willing to bet the outlook is actually better than you're thinking at the moment

You also have the option in your admin panel to create a beta zone copy of your board so that you can see what it will look like once the conversion happens. As it is only a copy, your real board will not be affected. This would be a good place to start, rather than assuming that it's all a lost cause. Then, if you combine that with opting out until December, you'll have lots of time to see what you can do, and what you need help with.

I'm very edgy about the change to V5, to the point where I think I would rather wait until the last minute so every one else can iron out any bugs!!

I am in the queue for a beta version of my forum now...

Can anyone advise if they think I will see any possible problems?
I have many password protected sub boards and member only categories, etc....

The biggest thing I can see for your forum right off the bat is that you will need to use a new side table code for v5. You would probably want to use this sidebar plugin that Brian created: support.proboards.com/thread/440272

I'm sure when you make the switch our support team will be able to assist you if you need any help transferring your data from the old sidebar to the new one

I too don't want to upgrade my fourm at this time uwlonline07.proboards.com/index.cgi I upgraded another board I have, I had to readd by banner, and one some of my skins it made it show up not, as it does on the current version, but multipaple banners in a row. I lost by table in my main header, and I lost the items I had in my main footer. Here is the board I upgraded, and lost things, and the banner looks weird on all skins excpet for the default one uwlonline44.proboards.com/
