Newbie to v5 and pretty dumb when it comes to coding!

I am having trouble co-ordinating my forum to look like the old one...

Could anyone of the support team please help me with sidebars, etc??

There are a few other things I cannot fix either:

• The news fader does seem to allow coding in the text? (for eg, cannot use colors, etc?)
• As a forum admin I used to be able to see EVERY last post on the main forum screen in all boards, I cant now.
  How can that be fixed please?

• Is it possible to stop the showing of all the sub board names in the main forum screen? By memory there used to be "(9 Sub boards)" or something similar instead of a string of 9 sub-board names?

For the side tables you would use a Plug-in for that now. You can view all of these in the Plugin Database board. There are a few different side table plugins for you to chose from and you can see all the available plugins in the Plugin Index thread.

I'm not sure about the News slider question but for the Sub-boards I thought there was an option in the Forum Settings to turn that off but I can't find it at the moment. Short of that you can go into your Layout Template (warning you would have to do this for each skin you have) go into the Board section, switch to the 'Board List' tab and find something that looks like this:

*It will look slightly different since I've modified my sub-board listings but the 'foreach' should be exactly the same. Remembered I have access to another board so found the unmodified stuff for you!

Comment out the part of the code that deals with the Sub-board listings. You can do this by using:

If you wanted to keep the count of sub-boards you could also accomplish that by just adjusting some things inside that foreach and I can help with that if you'd like that instead of just wiping it completely. Nice board by the way, might not need the clutter of having a sub-board count.

As for not being able to see the 'Last post' in every board I'm not sure what you're meaning as I can see every last post except for boards that aren't accessible by guests.

Hi, greysynd1.

This plugin is a good sidebar plugin to use that has a lot of features built in.

- The news feed allows basic text formatting BBCode, but doesn't offer anything in the way of color. You can use Bold, Underline, Strikethrough, Superscript, and Subscript tags, as well as adding links.
- Password-protected boards will not show the last post, but aside from those all other boards you have access to should show their latest post. The only way to undo this would be to remove the password.
- This should be possible through a template mod or a plugin. I can't guarantee a template mod will do it, but it should at the very least be possible via a plugin.
