I copy and paste chapters of my fanfic into a post, one chapter each day. And it always adds extra space between the paragraph endings, even though it looks right in bb code and visual views. It's not until after I create the post that the extra spaces show up and I have to go in and edit them out.
Wondering if this is a bug. It was happening right after the conversion, then it stopped a couple weeks ago and the post looked the way it was supposed to, the same way it looked before I posted and after I posted.
Then a few days ago, it started displaying the extra spaces again.
Hope this makes sense. If not, I'll try to take screen shots of an example.

Hi, kpatch. Can you link to an example of this? Also out of curiosity, are you pasting it into the Quick Reply first?

No, I don't use quick reply for these types of posts. I use the full reply. I created a screen shot, because a link wouldn't show you what I mean, since I edit the spaces out of the posts, after posting. So here are two screen shots. Screenshot 1 shows what it looks like when I copy and paste into the post (this is how it should look). Screenshot 2 shows what it looks like after I hit create post (with the extra spaces that it shouldn't have).

Have you tried pasting it into the BBCode editor instead of the Visual editor?

No, I haven't used that for this type of post. I will give it a try when I post tomorrow's chapter.

Let me know how it goes. Posting things into the visual editor usually results in it attempting to adopt the formatting from the program you copied the text from, which is usually bad in some cases unless your text comes from something like Notepad that can't format the text on its own.

Thank you Brian. What you say makes sense. And I tried it this morning. It worked! I tried to edit something right after I posted it, and when I hit "edit," the post box was completely blank, no text at all (visual tab) and when I went to the BB tab, the post box was still blank AND I got a popup error box that said: " JS Error: There was an error while trying to load the BBCode editor." Tried it several times and got the same outcome. So I can't edit it. Weird.

Do you have any plugins installed on your forum that affect the posting page?

The only plugin I have right now that's enabled is the friends and followers plugin. But I did make a template modification a long time ago so that the "edited on [date]" and the reason for editing do not display. I do not want them to display.
I wonder if that's why that happened. I have never had an issue before. I can still edit regular posts (those I did not create using the BB Code Tab).

In that case, try creating a brand new theme that has no edits done to it. Ensure that there are no plugins enabled on this specific theme.
Can you duplicate the problem there?

I created a test theme, bare, no modifications. Disabled the one plugin and it didn't make a difference. I still cannot edit that one post I created using the BB tab. When I hit edit, the post box is blank, as if I never posted any text in there in the first place.
I'm able to edit all other posts.

What's the link to the post in particular you're attempting to edit? I'd like to see if I can duplicate the issue on my own end.

Here it is. It's Chapter 72. myhourglass.proboards.com/post/149796/threadThanks for your continued help Brian. FYI - If we can't resolve this, I'm fine with continuing to post in the visual tab and going in and editing out the spaces after posting. This is a minor issue in the scheme of things.
