I just opened up our site and found the Preview button instead of the Visual editor button. So came here to search & find out what happened. (I am currently on a road trip and haven't checked PB Support in a couple of weeks, so wasn't expecting this.)
My question is related to updating and correcting our instructional posts as regards to use of the Visual editor:
Is the Visual editor no longer in use? Or is the Preview button just a different name on the Visual editor button?
I need to update instructions that mention the visual editor on our site. Thank you.

Preview is just a new name for Visual, because so many people were unable to find a preview. If that makes sense.

We renamed Visual to Preview to help people in the upcoming launch.
Also a meeting was had yesterday and to further address the concerns here in this thread and from now on when you paste anything into the Visual Editor it is going to treat it just like it does in the BBCode editor and strip it down to plain text.
People are obviously confused with the Visual/Preview editor and don't understand that what you paste there will appear as it is. Hopefully the rename will help that. People also don't understand that highlighting, copying and pasting things into it and then going to BBCode mode is going to show some pretty strange stuff since you ripped the content from another source that had it's own hidden formatting. So to solve that everything is plain text. Just like v4. Paste it and then format it yourself.
In theory (and I won't know til after it's done) copying formatted text from another ProBoards source, like a post will still retain formatting. This fix I just mentioned is to fix when people are highlighting web pages and pasting directly into the editor and expecting things to work. They will get all the text they copied and simply have to format it however they wish.
Thank you everyone for weighing in.

I posted two copies of the same thing and apparently nobody has paid enough attention to look at it and see all of the tags the visual editor added to the post that were not typed into it.

Someone did address your issue, but I will adress it for you in terms you might understand. UBBC code has been updated and proboards uses the new version in order to load pages faster. When you put yours in it was missing key elements to work and proboards tried to fix it in the proper format, but it could not add the tags you were missing.

And just one more note.
This thread is titled 'Remove the Visual Editor'
We aren't going to do this as a feature, but I should have made it clear earlier that you can remove it from your own forum easily enough. We give you the ability in v5 to pretty much change anything you can think of. So if you want to remove it, go ahead. But you might want to consider your members before you do. Just because you might not want the Preview or the ability to edit live doesn't mean they won't. I myself use nothing but the BBCode editor when I post. I wouldn't take away the other one just because I never use it myself.
