Image embed no longer working

Images used to paste straight into the editor 'as images', but now only the url appears.

I don't think we ever could paste images straight off the clipboard into the editor, but you can certainly still drag and drop a picture into the editor and have it generate the appropriate bbcode. Like this! 



That being said, if you attempt to drag and drop a picture into the quick reply, you'll only get the URL of the image.

I used it all the time.

You could simply copy a picture from Google images and paste it directly into your post. It still works on other forums, hence my understanding that it was a change with the PB software.

No biggy though.

I was corrected by a coworker of mine - this was indeed a feature of the visual editor, but it's believed this functionality changed when we modified the editor to strip out all formatting as per user request.

Brian is going to be mentioning at the meeting this morning that people have been asking for this back. Whatever he gets, I'll let you know.

I devoutly hope it comes back. We have members who use copy/paste all the time and need it. And no, it is not from other websites, copyrighted material or Word. Often they are copying from their own past posts.

After going over this with the higher-ups, its been concluded that this feature is unfortunately unlikely to return - it was causing some reproducible errors with certain copied formatting that were proving to be a pain for some users.

The preview window will convert all pasted content to plaintext, formatting will have to be performed after the copy and images will have to be dragged and dropped.
