the minutes part is likely ok, but I think he doesnt like it having a 0 there for midnight o' clock.

find this:
if(hours > 12){hours = hours-12; ampm = 'pm';}

replace with
ampm=(hours<12 ? 'am' : 'pm');
hours= ((hours+11)%12)+1;
