Custom Fields on New Profile Tab [library support]

I'm not quite sure if this is the Plugin I'm looking for or if there's even a plugin available. I've recently come into finding themes that require custom fields to be added under "Personal" in order for staff and members to add pictures, rp info, ect. Everything works out perfectly on the set Theme those custom fields were meant for, but on any other theme where they aren't applicable, they just show up as text underneath the profile pictures. I also have other themes that require custom fields for pictures with dimensions that differ from the other theme requiring custom picture fields.

Does this plugin help hide custom fields when they are inapplicable to the selected Theme?

It might be a newbie question, but I like giving members the ability to choose between different themes. I don't narrow my board down to one theme at a time. It'd be annoying having to get rid of or change custom fields every time I or one of my members felt like switching. It'd be just as big of a hassle if you simply deleted all of your input (your alias, your picture links, your music links, etc.) in order to run a theme without those custom fields, only to have to find and re-enter all of that information if you wanted to switch back.


I'm hoping this plug-in allows us to keep all of the custom fields and information, but simply hides inapplicable ones so that people can switch from theme to theme smoothly and without any additional work other than selection.

I hope my question makes sense. I have some themes that don't require custom fields at all, and it's kind of an eyesore to see text to links underneath the regular profile.

Am I asking for the moon and stars...to have my cake and eat it too?

This plugin will move ALL custom fields on to a new tab. from there you could check if a custom field was filled out or not, but nothing concerning what theme you were on.

however, there is a way in the template editor for the forum itself where you can check what the name of a custom profile field is and decide if it should be displayed or not. since each theme gets its own copies of the template editor, you would just need to change the comparison.

If you post in the template modification boards they can likely get you sorted out.

and if you still wanted to use this plugin after the template modification, that would give you the extra tab to play around with on profile view.

I want to have a field that uses check boxes, and then formats each element that's checked separately. Is that possible?

is it possible to have this make more than one new tab? I use this currently for my "report card" section, and am looking to make another tab for a character info section, where my members can put info about their characters and their past and such. Is it possible to do this and have both showing, in separate tabs, at the same time?

I am trying to utilize the {if}{else} to show the custom field on the tab with a 0 for members who have not filled out that field yet. What would that code look like? I have never used the if and else before and it is a bit puzzling.

{if} doesnt actually check for the actual value, it just checks to see if its been filled out (in regards to this plugin). something to validate every single possible value might be a bit above the scope of this plugin. it would return TRUE if they filled out that field, and FALSE if they didnt

Wormopolis, I for some odd reason, can not get this plugin to move the fields I put into the HTML box.
It makes the tab, but it just ends up being a complete clone of the Summary tab, and leaves the fields on both.

I have tried everything, and still same result.

So far, just for testing, I left the HTML very simple:

Age: $[field_characterage]

Why the custom tab gets the same information as the summary profile?, how do I edit this?, sorry for my ignorance.

Also, I was requesting for a plugin, and pastuleo23 suggested me to visit this plugin, which I think somehow it can works for what I'm looking, which is this:

A new tab will appear on the user's profile.

User 1 goes to his profile, and then goes to "User Information" (which is the new tab generated by the plugin), if User 2 goes into User Information of User 1 profile, he can see the information, but he cannot edit it. If user 1 goes to his profile, and then goes to "User Information" in his own profile, he could edit all the fields and the information shown there.

So each field would have like a especial "tag"/data set (I don't know how to call it properly)

For example

Name:

Age:

Rank:






And then let's say I go to a post, and I post this, also as part of the plugin.


Name: [pluginprofile.name.#userid]
Age: [pluginprofile.age.#userid]
Rank: [pluginprofile.rank.#userid]

When the user post it, he will get the [pluginprofile.name.#userid] replaced by the content that it was on his profile.

I'm not sure if the "tag" or data set (by tag/data set i mean this [pluginprofile.name.#userid]) it's represented right, I'm just giving an example to see if it is understandable. The person who makes the plugin might use something different to identify the text replaced by user id.

I need it to automatically detect the user that published it, because this information will appear on certain post automatically by using the custom post template plugin. Why am I telling this?, because the tag or whatever the creator of the plugin will use, must detect the #userid part of the tag, depending on what user published it.

There is a box that says under manage plugin:
 Enter in whatever you want in this HTML field.



When you want to insert a profile field, use this format:





$[field_NAME]

where NAME is the name you gave to that particular profile field





If you have more then 1 field with the same name, use:



$[field_NAME_NUM]

where NUM is which instance, starting with 0
