Hi there, Wormopolis!  It's been about a year and a half since I've bugged you.  The plugin has been working so great!  We all really love it!  I have a couple questions.  I haven't updated the plugin since I first got it so I have version 1.6.4.  Reading over this thread since I was last here, I see that you added so many nifty things to it so I'm really looking forward to upgrading to the newest version.  I also see that you have a companion that I wanted to download as well.

My question is, how exactly do I go about upgrading to the newest version?  I've reviewed the How to Upload a Plugin info where I could find it but it only talks about how to upload a Plugin for the first time.  I'm trying to avoid losing the tons of alter info I already have input.  When I upload the newest version, does it automatically override the old one and keep all the info?  If there is a thread to explain all this that I wasn't able to track down, I'd be more than happy to read it over if you provide a link or tell me where I can find it so that I don't take up too much of your time.

Secondly, reading over this board, I think I saw that I'm supposed to put the Companion plugin above the Alters plugin, right?  I also have the Alters Extension plugin so would it go above the Extension or the original Alter?

Thirdly, I would love to take you up on the offer of an additional extension.  If you're able to do that, would I be placing that plugin above all the rest of the Alter plugins?

Go there, download the plugin
Import it (like you would a new plugin)
It will automatically tell you that the plugin already exists
Choose the option that says update
Then it will say do you want to keep your old settings
And you will say yes
And then it will be installed and all of your old settings are still in tact.

That takes care of all but one thing.  Wormopolis, is the offer of an additional extension still on the table?  No rush.

when you do an "Install to Forum" from the library, it will ask you if you want to import settings - so say yes. It will also ask if you want to transfer key data - so say yes. then double check that everything transferred. if it looks good, then check that the old version was removed. if it wasnt you will need to delete it manually or it will try to run everything twice/.

Companion needs to run AFTER the main Alters plugin. The Extension needs to run BEFORE. its because of the way the data is setup that it gets info between each. the SECOND extension needs to run AFTER the first and before the main. so now that I typed that it might be easier to understand like this:

1. Alter Extension
2. Alter Extension2
3. Alter Main Plugin
4. Alter Companion

I have this and the alters Companion and its great but I have one issue

In the profile the last on line date is showing as at date with a year of 1970

How do i fix this

Do you mean a screenshot or a link to a post, if you mean a link the relevant posts are not viewable to guests but Im guessing you can probably see it from your side

no I dont have any super powers that can do that. I wanted to examine how its storing data and displaying it. the alters showing that date, what happens if they make a post?

This is what is showing in the profile after a post (i have purposely not put in birthday, gender, location etc).



BTW The companion is above the alters in the plug in list

question... in your Alter setups, do each of your Alters have unique usernames?

Yes there is only one alter on the forum and that is attached to my profile as Admin

It has a user name and a different display name (neither has any special characters)

yeah I cant recreate it unless the username saved on the post is different then the username saved in the character. I need to actually look at one of your posts
