Style Tag Plugin v2.3.1 [support thread]

Hello Bennett 🚀 !

I'm having some issues with the Style Tag Plugin. I keep getting a error anytime I try to delete a post on one of my boards. I was told to update the version of the Plugin but that didn't seem to solve the issue. Support directed me to you. My full issue can be found on this thread, it's just easier to link you at this point just so you know the steps I have taken etc. I was hoping you might be able to help me out.

Hello! I would just like to point out that version 2.0.2 doesn't work when you change pages. The coding breaks and doesn't show up until you reload the page.

I have not experimented with the style tags yet.

The alternate highlight-able 'Code' plugin you linked to, however, is lovely. I prefer it to shorty's plugin for my forum. I looked for a support board for it here but I couldn't seem to find one. I wanted to ask, could the plugin could be edited so that the 'highlight all' button appears either centered beneath the code box or flush with the left-edge of the code box? Right now the code box has a margin compared to the button, and that margin further limits the small spaces where the codes are mainly used. Using the plugin to add styles I put the box in a negative margin, but that also makes the button move. So, basically, I have to choose, and I went with the button spilling out because I just thought that looked nicer. (Reference image below to illustrate what I mean.)

Anyway, thank you for making these great plugins!

You are able to style it by means of the .code_tag_toggle class. I'd suggest: .code_tag_toggle { position: relative; left: 20px; } Or whatever other ways you can style the button itself as well!
Also, I just updated that plugin as well; check the first post for v0.2.0 that fixes the page change problem.

Morgan Amlin @khristian null v2.0.3 is waiting to be approved to the library; it fixes the problems you've encountered. Hopefully all will be well after updating to the latest version!

Ah, thank you very much! That helps a lot. It was actually 40px to center it, but it looks brilliant. Thankfully due to the standard gray-white color scheme of our templates and other important info, the button itself fits nicely. I might mess with it at some point~

I might just be being dumb about it, but I can't seem to get the code box to center without actually placing it in a table. Have tried a few things, but... Meh. It's not really that important; putting a table around it is easy enough. I should know better than to sleep-code anyway... ^^'

Hey, Bennett 🚀... sadly one of my members reported that after installing v2.0.3 onto their forum while using my Pre-Made Serenity, the forum content just disappeared. I have no idea what it interferes with, but I'm just letting you know.

Also- is it possible for the [nospaces] to NOT effect text within code tags?

Is there a link to a forum I could see to diagnose? Really have no idea why or how that could be happening.

Huh, actually when I put it on my test forum for that theme they had a problem with, it didn't do a thing. It might be an issue with another plugin they have? I'll link you to their post (I believe you're a member?): here

Bennett 🚀 , I'm attempting to toggle information in the "Info" div visible/hidden with a mouse click on the "Title" div. I am not sure if this is possible, and I can't seem to find the appropriate syntax. If you or anyone else could help out, I'd appreciate it.

So I ran into an issue. On my website I had to remove the Style Tag Plugin sadly. Mainly because the plugin was slowing down many threads, threads that need to be accessed multiple times depending on the person. It got to the point where it would give us a script error because of how slow it would load up, forcing us to "stop script". Just wondering if this happened to anyone else.

I would imagine the plugin tries to parse all the text on screen when a page loads.
Regular expressions are expensive like that. I would suggest more of a "lazy loading" strategy, ie: only load what is on screen and parse the rest when needed.

I imagine that is how he is doing it?! I have not look at the plugin myself, maybe someone can correct me If I'm wrong.

A "long polling" method might suite the plugin to deal with the visibility and pagination problems, although I'm not sure If those methods are allowed in the TOS.

The plugin is only capable of loading what is currently on the page because other pages are dynamically added to the page.

I can only assume that there was either some kind of syntax error making some kind of infinite loop to happen (such as an improper tag syntax), or you have changed how many posts are on a page of a thread and each post uses oodles and oodles of style tags.
