is 24 hour checked? because I am running the same version as what is in the library and I see the AM/PM part just fine. maybe you have it in a container that is cutting it off? I simply installed the new version over the old, didn't change anything. Sorry, I have no idea what you mean by "container".Should I try moving it up in the plugin list? Sorry for the trouble. squid

No, 24 hour is not checked.
I just noticed that I had 3 versions of the plugin (I had thought that a new version would overwrite an old version, but it does not) so I have just removed the older ones.

Wormopolis Ok, I just moved the plugin up to 3rd in line, but still don't see the AM/PM. Do you mean, you need me to open the forum? If so, I'll wait to hear from you (if now is a good time). thanks!

Ok, I know you probably won't believe me.
I did NOT have "24 hours" selected but it was showing that way. So, being the troubleshooter that I am, I went and selected it. Left plugins, saw the clock, still at 24 hours with no am/pm. Went back to the plugin and unseletcted "24 hours" and VOILA now the PM shows.
I can only guess it was from having 3 versions of the plugin at the same time. Now I know that I have to manually delete old versions.
Sorry to waste your time.

When installing a plugin that has an existing version installed, there are two possible paths. If it has a plugin key, you will be presented with this screen: If there are no plugin keys to conflict, you will be presented with this screen: We always try to make the least amount of assumptions about what the user wants, preferring to give the user control. In the first example, key conflicts can cause major problems, so we have to resolve them cleanly. However, It's completely legitimate to have two plugins that share the same name, so we ask if you want to import settings, but we don't assume that you want the old version deleted. In-place updates of plugins and themes is an item on our library/plugin roadmap, so eventually we will have a way to seamlessly update plugins and themes.

Wormopolis Does this code enable the option for the members to personally select if they want it in military time or AM/PM format?

not without using a key or a cookie to store that choice. using a key for literally ONE small thing seems like a waste of a slot, but then again using a cookie is subject to members allowing cookies and not purging them on browser close.
snd something about european laws where if your site uses cookies, you have to sit down with everyone that goes to your site and have a cup of tea with them and explain why you need to store data on their computer because its really important to them they have control over that 4K of data.

ok. so after much thought, Im going to remove the DST stuff altogether. The formula already takes into account what your CURRENT timezone offset is. and it gets it back to GMT and then applies the forceoffset. the forceoffset is the tricky part. everything listed is Standard Time. there is no real easy way to have it automatically adjust for daylight savings on the force because if you are IN a timezone that doesnt use DST (like china for example), then the method I used earlier to detect it would return 0. therefore it would not add the extra hour on the forced timezone. so basically, if you want to force the clock to be in GMT-7 you can. and it will stay there. but if you want it to accurately display a time for a city IN GMT-7, you need to change it to GMT-6 when the second sunday in march happens. whereas everyone who lives in the states will have their computer clock automatically adjust, anyone living in Asia wouldnt, so short of storing every single DST event date for the next 10 years, its much less stress on me to have it just be a manual change for those wanting it to be changed. otherwise I have to write up a formula to determine the second sunday in march and the first sunday in november every year. which isnt impossible, Im just not feeling the desire to do it right now. I will push the new clock version when I get back

sorry if I've missed the solution to this already, but where do I put the code for the live clock and date in order to get it to show in the right hand side of the navigation bar? (Next to the 'Welcome username Logout)

Look in the forum templates. I believe its part of the wrapper template.
