some plugins dont need to be plugins, true. but having it as a plugin affords one of the things that in V4 used to rquire a governer code to utilize. a plugin can be set to only run for certain groups and themes simply by changing its permission settings.
also, turning off a plugin is as easy as unchecking a box instead of finding where it was placed in a header or footer and commenting out or removing scripts.
and then there is what I said earlier, the ability to add in all sorts of options that dont require the admin pasting a code to get correct in the paste so that coders have to go searching for that missing ' that always seemed to elude v4 admins. go back and look at all the threads about the user legends that didnt work simply because someone forgot to escape a quote.
plugins also afford the authors a little bit of security in that people dont start making modifications to a code and then find it doesnt work, only to come back and ask the author to sort it out. now all the bugs in the code are the author's fault completely.

mine looks for any element with id="liveclock". so you could literally use a center tag:
<center id="liveclock"></center>

Wormo great code - was wondering if there was any way when you have time to omit the day so in the date read out it would just read
December 2013 for example

It was actually something asked for - so we still have a month display but not nessecarilly (Sorry can't spell that word!) but not the actual date on the forum, so I don't think it'll get that confusing to have time (in 24 hours time) and then month and year just so we have a visual reference as to what the month and year is.

I hope it's OK to ask this here: Once we install plugins, and they get updated, how do we find out about the update? Or do we? Or should we? Sorry, I'm new to the whole plugin thing. THanks! Please move this if I shouldn't have posted it here.

There isnt really a system in place that lets everyone know yet. Tim is working on it. what I have been trying to do however, is post in my support threads when I make an update and when its been submitted and accepted so that people know.
what you could do, is find the support thread for each of the plugins you run and bookmark them. that way if they get announced then you will know that way. true you might just see someone asking a question, but you can always answer if you feel inclined.. or maybe that person asks a question you never thought to ask. now you will get an answer without asking yourself. sometimes a new feature gets asked for.. you can add in your thoughts on it while its still in planning stages.
