Original post hereSo I've been trying to work out how I can get the labels into their own dropdown, preferably in front of the subject line text field. I was hoping to have it clearly marked as "Labels" so that members who are not used to v5 would know where they and how to use them, just by glancing at the posting page. Since I posted my original request on July 1st and I haven't had any sort of reply yet, I took another crack at it and discovered that this is way more complicated than I thought it was. It's clear to me now that a template code wouldn't even be able to come close to doing this, so I'm hoping that maybe someone could write a plugin for it? I'm using the same exact labels on many boards, and it wouldn't be a big issue if they all appeared on ALL boards instead of just the main ones, if that makes this request any easier.

It may be easier to have a plugin create the labels from scratch..
I'll take a look at it and see which way I'd rather go and let you know.

Todge: Would using jQuery to select the labels sub-menu and moving it to a new top-level menu element in that bar not work?

You tell me.. JQuery and me do not get along..
If it can be done in jQuery, it can usually be done in 'normal' JS.. I'll take a look.

jQuery or not, you can take the element of the sub-menu and move it to it's own location in the toolbar. I'll also take a look into this.
EDIT: I gave it a quick try. The way ProBoards creates dropdown menus is very messy to recreate, and the labels sub-menu is not modular, so my idea doesn't work directly. I'm going to see if there is an easier way to do it.

I was able to pull labels out into a dropdown next to the actions menu, but I cannot seem to recreate the actions menu look.

I was able to pull labels out into a dropdown next to the actions menu, but I cannot seem to recreate the actions menu look. The menus appearance and content are two separate elements, and I didn't even get a chance to look at how events were bound to them…

I have no idea if I'm missing anything, but I don't even HAVE labels on my forum. Where 'Labels' is on this forum, I have 'Make Announcement'..
Anybody know why?
