I was not sure if i should post this in Multiple Post Automerge by Wormopolis because i don't know if he intends the future versions of his Plugin to work in the different way i write about. Hopefully he will reply and clarify things In short text, i think many could use a very similar plug-in that will be having those differences: - Merging only selected posts (no auto factor)
- Permanently sticking posts together rather than making an illusion they are merged
- Keeping date and time of the newer post.
- Optionally: merging likes etc of the 2+ posts in the newer one.
Hope to see this option available at some point, in the existing Plugin or in a sister one

to answer to the bullet points:
1. would require adding a key to th eplugin to store if post is supposed to be merged 2. not possible 3. possible and can be made an option 4. possible and can be made an option - EXCEPT clicking for the list of names wouldnt be accurate since it can only fetch from one post at a time

Thank you for checking on this Wormopolis.
About Permanently stick posts together i though that could be done because it is something even humans can do: edit 1st -> copy -> edit 2nd -> paste -> delete first. Guess we can't be replaced after all.
Well for the list on names (it is on the likes if i understand well) i am sure you can think better how to optimally handle/display it than i can. I am also wondering how this plugin is compatible with plugin/templates that give individual reply number to each post because i consider adding one of those when they evolve.
Well as for the key i also belong to those that wouldn't mind it. Perhaps two versions (1 without and 1 with key) would be nice if are allowed. Thank you again!

a plugin isnt going to be able to do those things because they all require a pageload. you are looking for something more like a marco or bookmarklet.
there is always an inherited risk when using a theme if the theme has removed or renamed elements that a plugin relies on to be there. a plugin cannot be expected to work with every possible combination of parameters because someone just has to come up with one more parameter to kill it. if theme editors would hide stuff instead of remove it completely, then the plugin stands a better chance.

Hey there.
I like this plug in, thank you.
I can edit the additional add-on posts just fine, but once they attach on, I can't delete them separately. Is there any way to do that? Or is it just flat out considered one and the same as the post it is merging into?

as you put your mouse over the merged sections, you should see a box appear around them. the hover text should tell you clicking will edit that section, shift-clicking will delete it.

Hello @wormopolis your plugin is very useful but it seems it isn't working. I'm sure it depends on the theme I installed but maybe you can help me understand what's the problem and fix it? This is an example of two posts that didn't merge: buffy.boards.net/thread/21/looking-boardThe settings are: plugin applied to all boards, max number of merges 5, don't merge older than 2 hours and no exclusion date.
