Getting an error there, don't have permission to access the board to begin with. =P Again, any chance of getting a look at your template? What I posted up seems to work on my test board, here, on the General board. =/

pawl, does it go in the thread template or the board template? I've put it in the thread template but it didn't work. Do I need to allow viewing of board for it to work?

Thread template - it stops the thread itself from being viewed by guests in the board id targeted.
Could you try the link in my last post though, and just make sure that it works for me? Worked when I tested it, but if there's a problem for you there then obviously I've got to have another look at the code I posted. =]

The link you sent me works fine pawl I enabled the option where guests can view my board and it worked great but when I logged in and tried access the same board nothing showed up. I've disabled guest viewing now because of the google bots. Will the bots be able to view posts with this mod?

Oddly, my test board has now died when logged in. >_< xD
And yes, once I get it working bots won't be able to view posts - anyone that's not logged in will be unable to access them.

Okay, this should work;
Top of Thread Template;
{if !$[current_user.is_member]} {if $[thread.board.id] == "1"} <div class="container posts"> <div class="title-bar"> <h2>Error!</h2> </div> <div class="content cap-botom"> <div style="padding: 10px;"> Error Message </div> </div> </div> {/if} {else}
Bottom of template;
{/if}
Basically just adding a {/if} at the top, and losing one at the bottom. =]

Any chance of a link, and what you've added to the template? Worked on my test forum, but I can try yours viewing as a guest. =] Sorry for the late reply Paul, www.loveevertonforum.com <!--start of visitor permissions--> {if !$[current_user.is_member]} {if $[thread.board.id] == "8"} <div class="container posts"> <div class="title-bar"> <h2>testing Error!</h2> </div> <div class="content cap-botom"> <div style="padding: 10px;"> this is a test Error Message </div> </div> </div> {else} <!--end of visitor permissions includes the 2 ifs at the bottom--> I didn't really change much other than to be able to identify the message as mine as I checked results. It's in 'threads'. The if's are at the bottom of the page as instructed. Much obliged.

Should it be used in conjunction with the general permission settings?

Should it be used in conjunction with the general permission settings? General permissions should leave boards as viewable by everyone for the board. Could you just confirm that you're using the new code, with only 1 {/if} at the bottom? =]
