®i©hie or whomever,
Can some version of the V4 'Forum Rules in Posting Area' code be made for V5?
Here is the V4 code we have used...
<div id="gpr" style="display:none;"> Follow The <a href="http://proboards.com/tos" target="_blank">Proboards TOS</a> <br/> <em>Any Violations Will Be Subject To Enforcement Procedures</em> </div>
<script type="text/javascript"> <!-- /* Add Forum Rules To Full Post Page By Son Of Exodia - Global Footer */
var r=document.getElementById("gpr"); var td=document.getElementsByTagName("td"); if(document.postForm && document.postForm.message && r){ for(var x=0;x<td.length;x++){if(td[x].width=="30%" && td[x].className=="windowbg2" && td[x].innerHTML.match(/Message:/i)){ td[x].innerHTML+='<br/><table width="95%" class="bordercolor" cellpadding="4" cellspacing="1"><tr><td class="titlebg" align="center" vAlign="top"><strong>Global Posting Rules:</strong></td></tr><tr><td class="windowbg" align="center" vAlign="top">'+r.innerHTML+'</td></tr></table>';break; }}} //--> </script> Thanks to anyone who might help.

That would be wonderful. Thank you! would having the rules just above the message area be ok? Hmmmm.... I prefer that it be less obtrusive, more of a casual reminder than anything else, not something that has to be scrolled past or closed. I think a smaller/adjustable version to the side or under the message field would be better if possible. If it could be reserved for those in certain user groups (new/problem members) then that would be a plus. It looks as if the posting page in V5 is less amicable to this than V4. Does a plug-in exist that pops-up on the posting page based on user group? Something like that could be used for rules or anything else as long as it could be linked from. Below is our V4 version... ![]()

Sorry for the delay! That's is perfect! The bottom one I would probably keep for all members but it would be nice to be able to target the top one to member groups and guests. Thank you for taking the time.

I really like that Richie. That should work also for those of us who use the quick reply plugin. Is this a plugin or can it be done as a template mod? can be done as either. Sorry for the delay! That's is perfect! The bottom one I would probably keep for all members but it would be nice to be able to target the top one to member groups and guests. Thank you for taking the time. i'll try to see if i can get a top one for only certain member groups. worse case scenario, would 2 different plugins be ok? Edit: Community Library jrryantry this: Forum Rules in Posting Area.pbp (1.12 KB) (V 0.6.0) IF you find any bugs please post your url and be specific on what what part doesn't work. this'll help us both out in the long run.

Our V5 PrototypeIt seems that the rules that were located at the top under the posting icons in your earlier example are now located at the bottom of the posting area. The bottom rules from your earlier example are located below the posting area under the Preview/BBcode tabs. I like where the bottom rules are located but the two sets of rules are essentially on top of each other. Having the first set at the top as in your earlier example would look better I think. It seems that the 'Restrict by Group' for the Bottom Rules is designed so only one group or no group can be selected. When one adds a group it appears to replace the current one instead of creating a list. This is not the case for the Top Rules where any subset of groups can be selected. The Quick Reply Rules Show even if the Quick Reply Box is unavailable to Guests if 'yes' is selected for 'Guests can view'. It shows perfectly for members and is collapsed/hidden when the Quick Reply Field is collapsed/hidden. When I say 'guest', I'm referring to visitor that is not registered or logged in. Could not figure out how to post as a guest. Do guests have to register with Proboards to post in V5? I think the 'Restrict by Group' description should be more clearly written to say 'Select which group(s) will NOT see these rules.' Restricted Group: Top=None Selected Bottom= None Selected Both Top & Bottom Show to all. Restricted Group: Top=All (Can select any set of groups) Bottom=None Selected Top Hidden from all. Bottom Shows to all. Restricted Group: Top=None Selected Bottom=Administrator (can only select one group or no groups) Top Shows to all. Bottom Hidden from Administrator only. Restricted Group: Top=All Bottom=Administrator Top Hidden from all. Bottom Hidden from Administrator only.

Richie,
Thought I would bump this thread as you suggested though there is no need to put it at the top of your agenda.
How do I tag ®i©hie? Is that you in the pull-down? 'Son of Exodia (richie)'
