I understand what you mean now. Basically editing the server processes is not accessible to us, so it would have to be done after that data is already served, which defeats any performance gain. An example specific to me is:
If I currently have 20 posts per page, and every one of them has 10 images in each post, totaling 200 pictures, those 200 pictures are either 1) going to load: before any sort of front-end code can say "hey, we only want to see 10 posts/100 pictures" 2) going to begin loading: " "
Which will possibly defeat the purpose, as my purpose is to reduce the bandwidth consumption of my pictures so my links don't go dead halfway through the month + reduce page loading times.
Conclusion: it'd be better to just...
-delete a few images from my posts -convert some images to links to URLs
