Two requests.

1. Option for members only by invitation.

2. Member gets an email upon any reply to a participated thread.


Edit: After thinking about it, #2 is probably not possible.

1. Only allowing members to register by invitation?

2. Profile > Edit Profile > Notifications: Check the "email" box beside "when a thread I have participated in is updated". These emails are sent once daily as a digest email to avoid spamming users.

For #1:

Admin > Settings > Forum Settings > Login & Registration
At the bottom you will see "Disable Registration", put that to "Yes", and then below it will appear "Send Invite Key Email". Input the members e-mail in that, click send, and voila
