Forum URL: ultima-phantasia.proboards.com/For some reason, I installed the Shoutbox sound and it works fine when I first post. When I go to post again, I get this message " JS Error: TypeError: Cannot call method 'match' of undefined" and then it doesn't let me see the post I just made. When I refresh the page it's there though. Is there a way to fix this?

Hi Dorothia, You don't have all the settings filled out. You need to have an MP3 link in there or there will be an error (like the one you're getting) Pebble.

I'm not seeing the plugin enabled now so there's no way for me to check. Also , can you take a screen shot of the error. Is it an alert box ? or in the console?
What browser are you using when you get this error?

OK, the links you are using are not direct links to the sound. They are trying to open a player on your computer to play the sound. The IE MP3 is a download link. Have a look through the thread for this plugin and there are some good comments in there about how to use a direct link from drop box. link

I actually read that thread. I went through the progress of creating a Public Folder and then used the Copy public link method and that's the link I got. Is there another way of doing it?

I don't use drop box for the sound myself. I just tried this which is posted in that thread : =================================== Instructions How To Host A Sound File @ dropbox.com 1/ Create a dropbox.com account. 2/ Go to www.soundjay.com/beep-sounds-1.html3/ Select the sound you want and download the MP3 and the WAV file to your computer. 4/ Transfer both of these files to your dropbox.com PUBLIC FOLDER. 5/ Go to your dropbox.com PUBLIC FOLDER and right click on each of the sound files. 6/ For each file click 'Copy public link' 7/ Click 'copy to clip board' 8/ Paste that link into the appropriate section of the plugin. 9/ Save the settings in the plugin. 10/ Enjoy! Example of how your links should look from dropbox.com : dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/96017436/beep-5.mp3dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/96017436/beep-5.wavPlease use your own links and not the ones above other than for testing. They will be changed after a while and no longer work. They are for reference only. Please remember that this plugin only works for modern browsers. IE9+, FF, Chrome & others. ======================================== And it worked for me. I went to your site to test your links and it's disabled again. So, there's not much I can do from here. 100's of people are using this and dropbox seems to be the preferred method and is obviously working or the other thread would be full of comments to the contrary.

insert code here That's a good link, I just tried it. You have several other errors though. One being :
<script>
<!--
var cookie_data = document.cookie.split(";");
for(a = 0; a < cookie_data.length; a++){
if(cookie_data.match(new RegExp("id:(.+?)=0($|;)","i"))){
if(document.getElementById(RegExp.$1))
document.getElementById(RegExp.$1).style.display = "none";
}
}
This code which is giving the error message.
And there are two others which just crash the error console. What browser are you using?

I took that specific part of the code out, and it still didn't do anything.
I'm currently using Google Chrome, what other errors?

I took that specific part of the code out, and it still didn't do anything. I'm currently using Google Chrome, what other errors? There are a couple of errors showing , one is this : <script>
user_messages = ;
user_new_messages = ;
</script>
When using Chrome, you can press F12, in the box that opens up select console on the top line and then errors at the bottom, and it will show you any errors that are happening. If you are using any other plugins for the shoutbox, can you check you have the latest versions. Plugins like the sound and links etc... Also, try moving the sound plugin to the top of your plugin list to see if that helps. EDIT : While I'm here, this bit of code : <center><a href="Pmlinkhere">PM</a> ? <a href="Pofilelinkhere">Prof<a></center>
</td>
should be : <center><a href="Pmlinkhere">PM</a> ? <a href="Pofilelinkhere">Prof</a></center>
</td>

Just a heads up, this error appears to be caused by the fact that the following style somehow ended up in the shoutbox message area
<style> .message { font-family: arial; font-size: 10px; } </style>
Proboards looks for the first-child/last-child pseudo-class to tag the appropriate shoutbox message as last/first but with the style being the first child in that message area that causes an error
