Hi, sorry to bump this thread. I read through it hoping to find an answer to image resizing but I didn't have much luck I was intending to use this plugin as SomethingAwful forums style thread tags. I've replaced the default folder icons with a default thread icon (shown below underlined in blue) I set up some thread images for the forum that my users can select (underlined in red), however the new thread icons appear to be scaled down a bit, and I can't seem to find out why. Both the default thread icon and the thread icons are all the exact same resolutions. (61x27px) I tried adding this stuff in the optional wrapper style but no dice. Any ideas? site: doomer.boards.net/

Hi aastinky , could you try removing the width: auto; from the optional wrapper style? If memory serves that being there would override the width: 61px; immediately preceding it in most browsers. If that change brings no joy then would you consider temporarily setting a couple of icons on threads in a guest friendly board so I can take a look? height: 27px; width: 61px; width:auto; max-width:none; max-height:none

No joy. Tried a couple different combinations of things. No change.
I'm not sure if this is connected but I can only change the thread icon at the time the thread is created. Going back into the thread by editing it, the dialog to set the thread icon is there but no matter what i select, even "Remove Thread Icon" leaves the first chosen image as it is. Even when I go so far as to go into the plugin icon tab and change the URL of the icon to a different image, it stays.
Once it's there, it's there.
I don't know of any guest friendly boards. Do I have to make one?

The change occurs once you save the thread, changing the icon during edit and not saving the edit means it won't save the change.
I can see threads in Doom Projects for example (so that is guest friendly), Mapping Workshop on the other hand I cannot see any threads in there.

Yes I do know that. There's a thread I created last week called "Doom is Hell" in guest friendly Doom General. The Icon says "Rip and Tear!" on it but the icon remains if I edit (and save) the thread. It also has been scaled down and I'm unsure how to restore it to its original dimensions. doomer.boards.net/thread/1692/doom

Sorry aastinky could you upgrade to the latest version in the first post of this thread so we can rule out anything that may have been addressed already. As of this writing the current version is v0.1.17 and you are running v0.1.9updates since v0.1.9:v0.1.17- fixed bug where disassociating an icon from a thread required saving the thread first instead of immediately taking effect
v0.1.16- added placing image as a background on target container
v0.1.15- downgraded to es5 for wider browser support
v0.1.14- added user info to avatar urls so they can be used to fill unknown avatars
v0.1.13- added avatar search to saveAvatar fn and reap avatar in thread view if author is viewing
v0.1.12- added flexbox css for responsive screen size on subject input
v0.1.11- can_write expects object id (thread_id) but was sending user_id for a thread key
v0.1.10- fixed bug that presented a key write error popup to guests if guests were not allowed to post

I did upgrade, but the results are still the same.
I appreciate you being so patient with me.
Is there some place in my theme CSS that could possibly be interfering? For example, I do have a maximum size for avatars shown in mini profiles. Would that or something else in my theme somehow be connected to this?

EDIT:The image thing is purely a CSS issue, you can try addressing that by adding the following rule to your theme stylesheet or in global header(to affect all themes) .thread-icon-wrapper img{ width: auto; height: auto; } The issue with the plugin not being able to change icon when editing the first post of the thread should not be an issue after upgrading.

So I guess the option to edit the user groups that can use certain icons was removed during an update? Or maybe I just can't find it for some reason? Any support would be appreciated~
Edit: Oh! I figured it out, I was using an older version. Sorry! But now I've got something else going on -- so I tried to change the placement of the image by going into the Thread List template. I tried to edit the advanced placement settings in the Thread List template, but it didn't work so I just removed the code (I made up a .item.thread2 and .icon2 code and placed them in the row and cell of the thread subject, but as I said I removed them when it didn't work). But when I did, for some reason, the thread icon plug-in stopped working exactly right. For example, append and prepend don't work at all now and just show the icon behind the original. Also if you choose "after" setting, the icon just goes outside of the icon cell and pushes everything to the right. Picture is of the "After" effect. Sorry I don't know what I did. Retread : I know you've helped me out a lot, so if you know anything about this that would be really cool. I don't mind if I have to reset some coding or the plugin somehow. But uninstalling and reinstalling the plugin definitely does not work.

Did you try just importing the plugin over again and allowing it to transfer all data to the new plugin to see if repairs itself first? Do you have a link to your forum? I can take a look at your code if you like.

Tiffy-Bean Yes I've tried importing the plugin again, but the problems stays the same :/ I'd love if you could look at the code. Link to the forum is in my signature but also HereRight now I've set up the problem in a staff-only board but I can allow you to see it if you need to.

The default classes are .item.thread for neighborhood and .icon for house address with a tenancy method of replace contents. In the normal Proboards structure of table cells the only thing that should follow a table cell is another table cell so using After in a table structure paradigm would not make sense (which is why your posted picture shows the other cells pushed to the right because an image was inserted where it shouldn't) It requires some knowledge of HTML and CSS which is why it was placed under the advanced section. I am not entirely clear on what you were trying to accomplish but if you explain perhaps we can help.

Chris Yeah, I'll try to explain better. I'm not worried about changing the placement anymore. Originally I wanted to put the image before the thread title, like a mini-icon on the name, by adding two new element codes. When it didn't work I removed them. But before I did this, I'm pretty sure that the effects were working differently. Like when I used the After effect it used to appear after the original thread icon in the first little cell. And the Append and Prepend options used to work for me too, instead of just putting it behind the original image. I mean I could be wrong -- I didn't get much time to use the plugin before messing around with placement -- but I'm pretty sure the new image would appear beside the original icon in the first cell before I messed with the code. Now it pushes into the thread subject or below the thread row. Would like to get it back to being in that first little cell. EDIT: I did default all the plugin back to normal. So .item.thread and .icon are where they should be in the Advanced Placement section.

The class of the cell containing the image is icon so using Before or After would be targeting the cell and not the image within the cell. If what you are describing on some previous usage of the plugin gave you the image before or after the original image then the target would likely have been .icon img instead which then directly targets the image rather than the cell. It could also be you were using a theme that played loosely with the classes and had the icon class on the image itself. It should also be noted that the icon overlay option is there in plugin settings to retain the original icon as a mini overlay to the newer icon
If you did revert back to the default values in advanced settings and are seeing no difference then I would need to see a live example (not a picture) to determine the cause (cannot extract classes and structure from a picture).
